You have lost your TV remote. The chances are great that it is somewhere near your couch or TV! Look in all possible places and ask all family members if they have seen him anywhere. Have you looked between the sofa cushions yet?
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Finding your TV remote

Step 1. Look in the obvious places
Chances are good that you will find the remote control in the room where you were watching TV. Most people leave the remote next to the TV or where they sit while watching. Chances are, your TV remote is on the couch somewhere.

Step 2. Search hidden locations
Look under books, magazines, blankets, bedspreads, and anything else that your TV remote might accidentally cover. Check between the cushions of sofas and armchairs. Look under and behind furniture.
Check next to the kettle, on the shelf in the hallway, in the bathroom, and wherever you may have taken it

Step 3. Remember where you went
Perhaps you took the remote out of the room and put it in a “safe place,” and while your head was busy with other thoughts, you accidentally forgot it there. Consider if you left the remote somewhere on your way to the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, or at the front door.
- Check the refrigerator. If you have eaten or drunk anything in the past few hours, you may have accidentally left the remote in the refrigerator.
- Maybe your phone rang while watching TV, you got distracted by the call and left the remote near the phone, or while watching your favorite show, you went to open the front door and left the remote at the entrance.

Step 4. Flip all the covers on the bed
If you often watch TV in bed, this will be the best solution. The remote control is often buried under sheets and bedspreads or blankets, and the best way to find it is to simply run your hands under the covers and grope for something rectangular. Without finding the remote control there, look under the bed, and then check the entire area at the foot of it.
Method 2 of 3: Ask loved ones

Step 1. Ask other members of your family
If someone else has picked up the TV remote lately, they may know where to find it. This person probably left the remote in a place where you would not normally leave it. He or she may have left the remote in a part of the house that you rarely visit. Even if you didn’t manage to find the remote control right away, ask someone close to you about the places where it is definitely “not” worth looking for.

Step 2. Find out if someone took it
Perhaps the child took it to his room and forgot to return it. Your kid could have hidden it as a joke. The dog could have taken the remote and gnawed on it! Think about who might have taken the remote and why.
Check your toddler's toy box. It is impossible to predict when a child might pick up the TV remote

Step 3. Let someone help you
You don't have to search for your TV remote alone! Ask friends or family members to look for the remote with you. The right motivation for finding a remote can help you with this. If you find the remote, you can watch a movie or TV show together, which starts 20 minutes later.
Method 3 of 3: Preventing the problem

Step 1. Be more careful with the remote control
Keeping your TV remote in view at all times will minimize the chances of losing it in the future. Try to memorize where you put the remote. Each time, fix a picture of this place in your head so that you always remember where it is.

Step 2. Try to find a permanent location for the remote
Never put the remote control anywhere other than this place. This can be a coffee table, or a place next to the TV, or a special holder for the remote control, which is located on the couch or on the table.
- For people who constantly lose the remote control, we recommend purchasing a special holder, which will become for you that very specific place where you will always put the remote control.
- Glue one part of the textile fastener to the back of the remote control and the other part of the tape to the TV. When you are not using the remote, attach it to the TV.

Step 3. Make the remote more visible
Stick a strip of brightly colored tape or reflector on it, or a long fluffy tail. Tie a tape to the remote, make wings for it, or glue plastic legs to it. Add something to make it more visible. Try not to attach anything that will impair usability.

Step 4. Buy a universal remote
This device can work with almost all TVs and will free you from the need to have several conventional remotes. Typically, you use separate remotes for your TV, DVD, music center, and other devices. It is much easier when you have one universal remote for this, instead of four.

Step 5. Attach the GPS tracker to your remote
There are firms that sell small, inexpensive trackers that work through a smartphone app. Synchronize the tracker with your remote in case it is lost. You can set your phone to beep every time the TV remote is close to it. Some applications allow you to find the remote even when it is at a considerable distance from you.
Advice
- Most likely your brother or sister has taken the TV remote control. Ask them about the location of the console.
- Some companies, such as DISH, offer a "Keypad Location" feature. Find the “Remote Location” feature on your console or hopper and follow the beep until you find the remote!
- You may not always be able to find the remote right away. Keep looking! Try to remember where you last saw him. Look behind the TV.
- It is also a good idea to buy an inexpensive “universal remote” that can control most television devices. This will significantly reduce the number of remotes used. Store the universal remote in a safe place as a spare.
- Sew the remote control holder to your sofa to avoid future searches.
- Get the others involved in finding the remote. The more people look for a TV remote control, the sooner it will be found.
- Some TV manufacturers, such as Dish Network, install a button on the TV that activates a beep on the remote to make it easier to find it.
