Each of us has seen pixel art from the game Minecraft at least once. But how can you transfer an ordinary image to a 3D game like Minecraft? With a little preparation, you can do this with almost any image.
Steps
Step 1. Find a suitable image
You can also use your own drawing. You can use whatever you want, but sprites from video games and 8-bit art work best.
Step 2. Prepare your image
Since there are many different colors of materials in Minecraft, your image can contain different colors as well. Choose materials that are closest in color to the colors in your drawing. If the original colors of Minecraft materials are not for you, then you can use the downloadable texture packs.
To edit a set of textures, use an image editor (Gimp is best). You can find texture packs by opening the Start menu and typing "% appdata%" into the search bar. Now press "enter" and a folder called "Roaming" will open. Double click on the ".minecraft" folder and open the "texturepacks" subfolder. Here you can edit and add new texture sets
Step 3. Create a world and decide on a place for future art
Using creative mode allows you to enjoy unlimited resources and fly. Your art can be either horizontal (lying flat) or vertical (standing). In any case, you will have several ways to create art.
Step 4. Open the image
Open your image in the default editor. If possible, use a grid.
Step 5. Begin creation
Select a starting point. Now start sketching out the outline of the image. Take your time and count the pixels. Once you've made the path, you can start filling it in. There are several ways to do this, depending on the style of your art.
Step 6. It is best to start your creation in creative mode, on minimal difficulty, use flat terrain and place the art horizontally
This is the easiest way. So you can use any blocks, inspect the art from a height, avoid the destruction of the art by monsters and the risk of being killed.
Advice
- No hostile monsters appear on the “peaceful” difficulty level.
- You can quickly fill flat art with blocks like this: dig one block under you, look under your feet and start filling. This way you can just hold down the mouse button and not make mistakes.
- Don't do pixel art in the nether world. Especially if you are using wood or wool.
- Sometimes monsters can get on your art. Be careful not to damage the art by killing them.
- Try resizing your Minecraft and Image Editor windows so that they both fit on the same screen.
- Create a sign that says who created it and what it is.
- Try to find ready-made sketches on the Internet.
- Some mods can help you create pixel art. Some may also create it automatically. Mods such as "X-ray mod" and "Too Many Items" will help you see at night or change the time of day accordingly.
- If you are using the Gimp editor, you can overlay the image with a grid to help you get started. The 1x1 format is better for small pictures, while 2x2 will allow you to calculate pixels faster and do the work in small parts.
Warnings
- Wool is a flammable material in Minecraft. Be careful as other players can set your art on fire.
- Watch out for monsters. Creepers can explode and destroy a whole piece of work.
- There is a chance that lightning will hit your art.
- If you play on a server, then stick to the rules and do not create anything provocative.
