Unlocking the pink dinosaur Byrd in Mario Kart Wii isn't too difficult, you just need a little patience. Birdo is a mid-weight character with fairly balanced stats and the ability to ride around on a variety of maps. Due to the fact that she can be unlocked from the very beginning of the game, she is one of the first characters to be unlocked by players. There are two main ways to get it - play 250 races online or complete time trials on 16 different tracks.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Unlocking the Bird

Step 1. Start the single-player game mode from the main menu
You will then have several game modes to choose from, including Grand Prix, Time Trial, Confrontation, and Skirmish. Since you start the game with 16 open tracks already, you can start unlocking the reed right away. To do this, you only need to complete a time trial on each of the 16 available tracks. It is for this reason that Byrd turns out to be one of the first characters to be unlocked by the player.

Step 2. Complete time trials on 16 unique tracks
It doesn't matter what character and what vehicle you do it. Do not forget that this is still a race against the clock, and for it to be counted, you need to set a new track record, which, however, is not so difficult to achieve. You just need to finish the race. Do not run in front of the locomotive and go through all 4 tracks in each of the 4 cups in sequence. Here are some tips for successfully completing the challenges:
- Use heavyweight racers (Bowser, Vario, Donkey Kong) who develop top speed and don't slow down when hitting obstacles and other racers. This feature compensates for their slow acceleration.
- Practice the starting acceleration. Press button "A" at the moment the inscription "March" appears to quickly gain acceleration and save precious seconds of your time.
- Explore all the places on the track where you can take a shortcut. While you won't need them to unlock Byrd, they can come in handy for unlocking other Time Trial characters.

Step 3. Return to the main screen after completing all 16 time challenges
Press the "B" button a couple of times to exit the challenge menu and return to the main menu. Re-enter the game under the profile with which you completed the Time Trials, after which you will see a notification that Berdo is unlocked.
- Remember, you need to complete a time trial on 16 different tracks, not just 16 challenges.
- If you have completed 16 runs, but Birdo remains blocked, complete the Grand Prix mode. After winning the Grand Prix, Byrd should open.

Step 4. An alternative way to unlock Birdo involves participating in 250 races in online multiplayer mode
This method will take you much longer than completing challenges, but if you love online racing, your time will not be wasted.
You can also take part in 1,350 races (with any character and no time limit) in any mode to unlock the pink dinosaur
Method 2 of 2: Racing the Bird

Step 1. You should know that Byrd is a middleweight rider
Riders in this category have a relatively balanced performance, which makes them feel great on a variety of tracks and can ride both karts and bikes. This makes Byrd a versatile racer for a variety of tracks, whatever your skill level, but she is especially good for beginners.
Due to its middle weight, it can push off light riders like Little Luigi. At the same time, Birdo herself will fly off from such heavyweights as Bowser

Step 2. The defining characteristic of Birdo as a rider is the "Mini Turbo"
Each rider has a number of characteristics that affect their driving style. These characteristics remain the same and are independent of your vehicle. The reed is generally average in performance, but it has two distinct advantages:
- Mini turbo - additional acceleration after a successful drift on a corner. Byrd has some of the best mini-turbo in the game.
- Off-road - The reed suffers only a slight drop in speed when driving off-road. Despite having more skilled off-road riders like Yoshi, her moderately high off-road performance allows her to cope with accidental off-roading without serious consequences.

Step 3. Find the best transport for Berdo
Try to further improve the strengths of the Bird by using maps with high drift potential (for Mini-turbo) and off-road performance. The best cars for her are often rally cars and vehicles with good handling. In particular, she should ride the following:
-
The best cards.
Wild Wing or Daytripper.
-
The best bikes.
Mach Bike or Sugarscoot.
