In this article, we are going to show you how to set up the Homebrew Channel on Wii 4.3. This requires the LetterBomb exploit. The Homebrew Channel allows you to play games and run third-party applications. If you follow the steps described here, the Wii warranty will be void; moreover, if something goes wrong, the console may fail. The LetterBomb exploit only supports Wii 4.3.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: How to Find Your Wii Firmware Version
Step 1. Turn on the Wii
To do this, press the power button at the top of the console bezel, or press the power button on the Wii Remote.

Step 2. Press A
The Wii menu will open. Step 3. Select Wii.
It's in the lower left corner. Step 4. Select Wii Settings (Wii Settings) and click A.
You will find this option on the right side of the screen. Step 5. Write down the firmware version.
It's in the upper right corner. Versions can be as follows: 4.3U, 4.3E, 4.3J, 4.3K.
- If the firmware is not 4.3 and you have never installed Homebrew, update the firmware to 4.3.
- If you don't see the version, make sure the TV shows the whole picture. If so, but there is no version, you have a Wii 1.0 - in this case, update the firmware to version 4.3.
Step 6. Scroll right, select Internet (Internet) and press A.
You will find this option on the second tab of the Wii Settings page. Step 7. Select Console Information (Console Information) and click A.

Step 8. Make a note of the Wii MAC address
It will be displayed on the screen and consists of twelve numbers and letters. This address is needed in order to download LetterBomb and the HackMii installer. Step 9. Turn off the Wii.
To do this, hold down the power button until its indicator turns red. Step 10. Remove the SD card from the Wii.
It is located to the left of the disc slot. Pull the card out carefully.

Step 11. Go to your computer to download LetterBomb
Part 2 of 3: How to Download LetterBomb

Step 1. Insert the SD card into your computer
A thin (2.5 cm long) SD card slot is located on the side of your laptop or on the front of your desktop computer. A window with the contents of the SD card will open.
- The capacity of the SD card must not exceed 2 GB.
- Insert the card with the label side up.
- If your computer does not have an SD card slot, buy a dedicated USB drive that you can insert an SD card into.

Step 2. Go to HackMii's LetterBomb page

Step 3. Select the firmware version of your Wii
Do this in the “System Menu Version” section at the top of the page.

Step 4. Enter the Wii MAC address
Do this in the “MAC Address” section in the middle of the page.
Check the box next to "Bundle the HackMii Installer for me!" (Also download the HackMii installer) under the entered MAC address

Step 5. Click “I'm not a robot”
Do this to confirm that you are not a spam bot. Step 6. Click Cut the red wire (Cut the red wire) or Cut the blue wire.
You can choose any of these options; the download of the Homebrew installer will begin.

Step 7. Open the "LetterBomb" folder
If you have a Mac, the contents of the folder will be displayed.
On Windows, first click Eject and then open the LetterBomb folder
Step 8. Copy the contents of the "LetterBomb" folder
To do this, select with the mouse pointer all files and folders in the "LetterBomb" folder, and then right-click on them and select "Copy" from the menu.
On a Mac, right-click with two fingers instead of right-clicking
Step 9. Click on the name of the SD card
You will find it in the left pane in the window with the contents of the "LetterBomb" folder. Step 10. Double click on the "LOST. DIR" folder on the SD card.
Most likely, it will be located at the end of the folder list; otherwise, find the folder whose name ends in ". DIR".
You may need to display all the folders on your computer first to see the "LOST. DIR" folder

Step 11. Paste the copied files to your SD card
To do this, right-click (or with two fingers) on an empty space in the SD card window, and then select "Paste" from the menu. Step 12. Remove the SD card.
First, safely remove it (to avoid damaging your files) and then pull it out of the computer. For this:
- Windows - right-click on the name of the SD card in the left pane and select "Eject" from the menu.
- Mac - Click the upward arrow icon to the right of the SD card name in the left pane.

Step 13. Remove the SD card from the computer
Now install Homebrew on the Wii.
Part 3 of 3: How to Install Homebrew

Step 1. Insert the SD card into the Wii (with the sticker towards the disc slot)

Step 2. Turn on the Wii and press A
The Wii menu will open.

Step 3. Select Wii Message Board (Messages) and press A.
This envelope-shaped icon is in the lower-right corner.

Step 4. Find the red envelope icon
Look for it in the folder marked with today's, tomorrow, or yesterday's date.
- Browse each of these folders using the arrow keys.
- The indicated icon may appear within a few seconds.
Step 5. Select the red envelope icon and press A
This icon will appear in the middle of the screen. White text appears on a black background.

Step 6. Press 1 when prompted
You will be taken to the HackMii installer page. Step 7. Select Continue (Continue) and click A.
It's at the bottom of the HackMii installer page.

Step 8. Select Install The Homebrew Channel (Install Homebrew Channel) and click A.
It's at the top of the page. The process of installing Homebrew on the Wii will begin.
Use the D-Pad to select this option, as the touchpad will not work at this point
Step 9. Select Yes, continue
It's at the top of the page. The process of installing Homebrew on the Wii will begin. Step 10. Select Continue (Continue) and click A.
This option will appear when the Homebrew installation process is complete.

Step 11. Select Exit (Exit) and press A.
It's at the bottom of the page. The Wii will reboot, after which you will be taken to the Homebrew channel.
- To return to the Wii Home Screen, press the HOME Button, select “Exit to System Menu” and press A.
- You will find the Homebrew channel on the menu. To open this channel, select it, press A, select Start and press A.
