In the games Pokemon Sun and Moon, Grubbin is an insect type Pokemon that evolves into Charzhabag (insect / electric type), which in turn evolves into Vicavolta (insect / electric type). In this article, you will learn how to evolve Grubbin into all of its forms.

Step 1. Catch Grubbin

There is a 10% chance of finding Grubbin on Route 1, 4, 5 and 6, so this will take you a while. The Grabbin's level will range from 3 to 17 depending on the Route being combed.

Netballs are great for catching Grubbin, as they work well on insect and aquatic Pokémon. If you have just started the game, then the chance of catching Pokémon on Route 1 will be 100% (later this will no longer be the case)

Step 2. Pump Grubbin to level 20

Since Grubbin is an Insect-type Pokémon, he is very effective against Grass, Dark, and Psychic Pokémon.

If Grubbin constantly loses consciousness in battles, give him Exp. Share from backpack.
Grubbin can also be given a Rare Candy to get him level 1.
When Grubbin reaches level 20, he evolves into Charzhabag.

Step 4. Upgrade Charzhabag in Vast-Pony canyon so that it evolves into Vicavolta

This will work at any level other than 100, so the minimum Vicavolt level could be 21.

In the canyon you can find Machoka (combat type), Markrow (dark / flying type), Scarmori (steel / flying type), Boldor and Lycanrok (stone type), Karbink (stone / magic type) and Jangmo-O (dragon type). Fight them to gain experience and level up.

Advice

Since Grubbin has a fairly low level, use Nestball on him to make it easier to catch.
If during the battle Grubbin successfully calls for help, you will have to defeat one of the Grubbins before throwing the Poké Ball. Prepare for a drawn-out battle as it can happen multiple times per battle. This won't happen until you complete your first challenge, so don't worry if you catch Grubbin early in the game.
