Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) allows users to create two types of accounts: primary and secondary accounts. Main account holders have access to and edit the payment information for bank cards associated with the PlayStation Store Wallet. They can also establish control over games, video and audio chat 6 additional accounts. Primary accounts are generally for people over 18, while sub accounts are for users under 18. (Age restrictions may vary depending on the region you live in). This guide will teach you how to create a basic account on your PS3 game console.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Setting Up a Basic Account on PS3

Step 1. Click the "PlayStation Network" icon on the PS3 main menu and select "Sign up for PlayStation Network"
Make sure you are not logged into an existing PlayStation Network (PSN) account, otherwise the "Sign up" option will change to "Sign In".

Step 2. Select "Create New Account"
A window will appear prompting you to enter the information required to create an account: name, address, email, online ID, and date of birth. Click "Continue".

Step 3. Select your country, language and date of birth
Based on the date of birth entered, you will be able to create a primary or secondary account. Typically, people 18 and older can create a master account.

Step 4. Read the User Agreement and Privacy Policy and click "Accept"

Step 5. Enter your email address, password and verification question / answer for your account
Your password must be at least 8 characters long and contain letters and numbers.

Step 6. Enter the online ID
This page will ask you to create an ID that will be visible to other network users. Online ID must be between 3 and 16 characters. It can contain letters, numbers, and special characters (such as hyphens or underscores). The ID cannot be the same as the account password, and you will not be able to change the ID after you create it.
- The message "The online ID you entered cannot be used" may appear. This means that someone is already using the ID you entered or that it contains prohibited keyword (s), such as the word "PS3".

Step 7. Enter your name, address and gender
The name and address are mandatory, and the gender is up to you.

Step 8. Check the checkboxes next to the information you would like to receive to the specified email address
You may choose to receive information about PlayStation products and services, as well as information from other companies. You can enter a different email address than the one used for your account.

Step 9. Check the information you entered and click "Confirm"
You can make changes to your data by clicking the "Edit" button next to the appropriate field.
Method 2 of 2: Connecting an Additional Account Using PS3 and Email

Step 1. Select the "Sign up for PlayStation Network" icon in the "PlayStation Network" section of the PS3 main menu

Step 2. Select "Create New Account"
A window will appear with fields for the information that must be entered to create an account. Select "Continue".

Step 3. Select your country, language and baby's date of birth
- The next window will explain that you will need the help of an adult (parent or guardian) to create an account. Click "Continue".

Step 4. Enter the email address and password of the primary account to which the secondary account will be linked
A confirmation window will appear next. Click "Continue".

Step 5. Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
This section will clarify that the sub account you create will be linked to the main account.
- An email confirming the registration of the sub account will be sent to the email address of the main account. This message will confirm that you have successfully created the additional account.

Step 6. Enter your child's login and password

Step 7. Enter the online ID for your child

Step 8. Enter the child's name and address
The address will be automatically duplicated based on the address specified in the data of the main account.

Step 9. Check the checkboxes next to the information you would like to receive to the specified email address
You may choose to receive information about PlayStation products and services, as well as information from other companies.

Step 10. Check the information you entered and click "Confirm"
You can make changes to your data by clicking the "Edit" button next to the appropriate field.
Advice
- After creating a main account, you can browse the PlayStation Store, play online games and top up your wallet, choose an avatar for yourself, create a list of friends and send messages to people from this list.
- Upon completion of your account registration, you may be asked to fill out a questionnaire. The questionnaire is completed at will and conveys your impressions of the account registration procedure.
