How to Burn Xbox 360 Games to DVD Discs

This article will show you how to make a copy of an Xbox 360 game you own. To do this, you will need at least one DVD + R DL (Double Layer DVD) disc and a Windows computer, as well as some free software. If you do not own games, it is illegal to write ISO files to discs in most countries.

Steps

Part 1 of 4: How to Prepare to Record

Step 1. Flash the Xbox 360

This can be done independently or entrusted to a specialist (for a fee). To flash the console, open it, find the manufacturer of the DVD drive, connect the DVD drive to your computer, and then install the new firmware on the drive. So the set-top box will be able to work with discs recorded by you or other users.

Step 2. Buy DVDs

You need a DVD + R DL (DVD Dual Layer) disc. A single layer DVD will not work due to its limited capacity.

• DVD-R DL discs are manufactured by several companies such as Verbatim.
• The capacity of a dual layer DVD is 8.5GB. If the size of the game exceeds this value, take multiple discs.

Step 3. Download and install DVD Decrypter

With this program you can make a copy of the game for Xbox 360. To download and install DVD Decrypter:

• go to the page
• click "Download DVD Decrypter";
• double click on the installation file;
• click "Yes" when prompted.
• follow the instructions on the screen.

Step 4. Download and install ABGX360

This program will modify (patch) the game's image so that it can be played on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE. To download and install ABGX360:

• go to the page
• click on the "TX" link under the "Installer" heading in the "Windows" section;
• double click on the installation file;
• click "Yes" when prompted;
• click Next;
• click “Install”;
• click “Close” when prompted.

Step 5. Download the ABGX360 patch

Go to http://abgx360.xecuter.com/index.php and click on the “abgx360.ini” link in the “2014/10/02” section at the top of the page. This file will allow you to connect to the ABGX360 server, which is required to modify the ISO file.

Step 6. Download and install ImgBurn

With this software, you will burn your Xbox 360 game to DVD. To download and install ImgBurn:

• go to the page
• scroll down and check "ImgBurn" in the "Utilities" section;
• click "Get Your Ninite";
• double click on the installation file;
• click "Yes" when prompted;
• click “Close” when prompted.

Step 7. Restart your computer

Click Start

> "Nutrition"

> Restart. When your computer restarts, log in and start creating the ISO file.

Part 2 of 4: How to Create an ISO File

Step 1. Insert your Xbox 360 game disc into your computer's optical drive

In this case, the label must face up.

If the autorun window opens, close it

Step 2. Run DVD Decrypter

Double-click the CD-shaped icon on your desktop.

If you checked the "Open DVD Decrypter" option when you installed this program, it may already be running

Step 3. Click the Mode tab

It's at the top of the DVD Decrypter window. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 4. Select ISO

It's near the bottom of the drop-down menu. A pop-up window will appear.

Step 5. Click Read

It's near the top of the pop-up window. Now DVD Decrypter will be able to create an image (ISO file) of a game disc for Xbox 360.

Step 6. Click on the folder-shaped icon

It's in the middle of the page (to the right of the DVD title). A window will open where you can select the destination folder.

Step 7. Click on Desktopand then press OK.

This means that the disc image with the game will be saved on the computer desktop.

Step 8. Click on the green "Play" button

It's in the lower left side of the window. The process of creating an image (ISO file) of the game disc will begin.

Step 9. Wait for the process to complete

Depending on the size of the game, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more to create a disc image.

Step 10. Click OK when prompted

The ISO file can now be found on your computer desktop.

Part 3 of 4: How to change (patch) the ISO file

Step 1. Unpack the "abgx360.ini" archive

This is the archive (with the patch) that you downloaded after downloading the ABGX360 program. For this:

• double click on the zip file "abgx360.ini";
• go to the "Extract" tab at the top of the window;
• click "Extract All";
• when prompted, click Check Out.

Step 2. Copy the file "abgx360"

Click on the file "abgx360" and then press Ctrl + C.

Step 3. Open the Start Menu

Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

Skip this entire section if you are not going to update or play the game online

Step 4. From the Start menu, enter abgx360

The search for the ABGX360 program will start.

Step 5. Click abgx360 GUI

You will find this option at the top of the Start menu. The ABGX360 program will start.

Step 6. Click Help

This tab is at the top of the ABGX360 window.

Step 7. Click on Where is my StealthFiles folder

It's at the top of the Help drop-down menu.

Step 8. Click Yes when prompted

Opens the folder with the ABGX360 program.

Step 9. Click on abgx360

It's in the address bar at the top of the window. You will be taken to the "abgx360" folder.

Step 10. Paste the copied file into the "abgx360" folder

Press Ctrl + V. The file will appear in the folder.

Step 11. Close the folder

You will return to the ABGX360 program window.

Step 12. Click on the folder icon

You will find it in the upper right corner of the ABGX360 window.

Step 13. Click Desktop

It's on the left side of the window.

Step 14. Select the created ISO file

To do this, click on it.

Step 15. Click Open

This button is at the bottom of the window.

Step 16. Click Launch

This button is at the bottom of the window. ABGX360 will start modifying (patching) the game's ISO file so that it can be updated and played over the network.

Please be aware that if you play a copy of the game online, Microsoft may block your Xbox LIVE account

Step 17. Wait for the patch to complete

This will take a few minutes. When the message “Press any key to continue” appears on the screen, press a key on your keyboard to save the patched version of the ISO file to your desktop. Now you can start burning the created file to DVD.

• The patched file will have the extension.dvd, not.iso.
• You can also click Launch to increase the likelihood that the game will not be detected.

Part 4 of 4: How to Burn ISO File to DVD Disc

Step 1. Remove the game disc from the optical drive of your computer, and then insert a blank DVD into it

You need to use a DVD + R DL disc.

Step 2. Run the ImgBurn program

To do this, double-click on the CD-shaped icon.

Step 3. Click Write Image File to Disc

It's near the top of the window.

Step 4. Click on the folder icon

It's at the top of the window to the right of the Please select a file heading. A window will open.

Step 5. Select a disk image with a.dvd extension

In the window that opens, two versions of the game disc image will be displayed: with the.iso extension (this is the original image created by DVD Decrypter) and with the.dvd extension (this is the patched image created by the ABGX360 program). Click on the.dvd file to select it.

If you select a.iso file, you will not be able to play the recorded game

Step 6. Click Open

The.dvd file is added to the ImgBurn window.

Step 7. Click the Tools tab

It's at the top of the window. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 8. Click on Settings

It's at the bottom of the Tools drop-down menu.

Step 9. Click the Write tab

It's at the top of the window.

Step 10. Check the "User specified" option

This option is located under the heading "Layer Break" in the "Options" section, which is located in the upper right side of the window. A text box will appear on the screen.

Step 11. Enter 1913760 in the text box

This will ensure that DVDs burn equally smoothly.

Step 12. Click the I / O tab

This and the next two steps are optional, but will come in handy for brand new drives.

Step 13. Click the Page 2 tab

It's in the upper left side of the window.

Step 14. Adjust the sliders in the Buffer Recovery Thresholds section

This section is in the lower left side of the window. For this:

• drag the "Main" slider to the right to "73%"
• drag the Device slider to the left until it reaches 25%;
• click and drag the Average Disk Queue Length slider to the right to a value of 5.0.

Step 15. Click on OK

This button is at the bottom of the page. You will be returned to the main ImgBurn window.

Step 16. Click on the blue arrow

It's in the lower left side of the window. The process of burning the game to DVD begins. When the process is complete, you can play the recorded game on your Xbox 360.

Advice

• If DVD Decrypter doesn't work, buy its paid counterpart, such as MagicISO.
• Copying a game from another user's disc to play on your console is as illegal as downloading free copies of games from pirated sites.

Warnings

• If you play unofficial copies of games online, you are violating the Xbox LIVE terms of use. In this case, your Xbox LIVE account will be blocked if you get caught (and you will most likely get caught). Therefore, play copies of games offline.
• It is illegal to record and use pirated (unpaid) copies of Xbox 360 games.
