Exp. Share is one of the best items in the entire Pokémon series. This item allows a Pokémon to gain experience from every battle, even if he did not participate in it. Exp. Steps
Method 1 of 6: Red / Blue / Yellow
Step 1. In Red, Blue and Yellow there is no way to get Exp
Share as Pokémon of this generation cannot use items. Instead, there is Exp. All.
Step 2. Collect at least 50 different Pokémon in your Pokedex and head to the observation tower east of Fuschia City
Step 3. Talk to Professor Oak's Aide here and tell him that you have 50 Pokémon

Method 2 of 6: Gold / Silver / Crystal
Step 1. Head to the Lake of Rage where you will find the Red Gyarado monsters

Advice
- Red Scale in Gold, Silver or Crystal games is best exchanged for EXP. Share. This item is not particularly useful in any other case.
- You don't have to always use Exp. Share. Sometimes it's better to train one Pokemon than two.
