Ankano is a powerful mage who resides in the College of Winterhold. As you go through the quests of this guild, you will face Ankano in battle, completing the final quest "The Eye of Magnus". The essence of this quest is that you need to defeat Ankano, who captured the College and decided to use the power of the Eye of Magnus (a very ancient artifact) in his sinister plans, from which life in Skyrim will certainly not become easier. The trick is that the sorcerer will be invulnerable to damage - to any damage. To complete the quest, you will need another artifact - the Staff of Magnus.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Finding the Staff of Magnus
Step 1. Go to the Labyrinthian
Move to Morthal, from there follow the road south, then turn east. Walk in this direction, then turn right at the first corner, which leads south. Follow this path. At the end of the path, you will be greeted by the entrance to the Labyrinthian, an abandoned and ruined city.
Step 2. Kill Morokei
Get to the third level of the Labyrinthian (Tribune), where you will find Morokei, one of the dragon priests. Kill him and take the staff from the corpse - this will be the Staff of Magnus.
Bows, crossbows and spells are especially good against Morokei. Of course, you can also kill a priest with a good old sword or ax, but this will not be so effective. In addition, in the melee zone, it will be more difficult for you to dodge his magical attacks, which do very high damage
Step 3. Take the staff
After defeating Morokey and searching his mortal remains, do not forget to take the staff and mask.
Step 4. Return to Winterhold
After killing Morokey, you will find a door nearby, through which you can go out into the street by a short way. Then go to Winterhold - it is to the northeast of you.
Method 2 of 2: Battle with Ancano
Step 1. Get to the College
Arriving in Winterhold, you will see strong gusts of wind blowing from the College and slowing down your movement. You can deal with this as follows: take the Staff of Magnus in your hands and press the attack button, pointing in front of you. This will clear your way and be able to enter the College.
Step 2. Find Ancano
Enter the largest tower ("Hall of the Elements"), where you will find Ankano, busy with important business - he will apply sinister spells to a magical sphere called the "Eye of Magnus".
Suddenly, Tolfdir (non-playable character) appears from behind you and starts talking to Ankano. Wait until they finish talking. It's hard to miss the end of the dialogue - Ankano will paralyze Tolfdir and start attacking you
Step 3. Close the Eye of Magnus
So, Tolfdir is neutralized, Ankano is attacking you, and you … and you aim the Staff at the Eye and hold down the attack button. You will notice that the Eye will slowly begin to close, and the energy emitted by it will dissipate. Your task is not to remove the staff until the Eye is closed completely.
Do not attack Ankano until the Eye is closed. This simply does not make sense, because while the Eye is open, Ancano is invulnerable
Step 4. Kill Ankano
After closing the Eye, just kill Ankano like some magician bandit. Weapon or magic - this is not so important, just to the death!
- By the way, Ancano will try to open the Eye to become invulnerable again. When this happens, simply repeat the steps described in the third step to continue hitting the sorcerer.
- Any fire spell, even learned early in the game, will be very effective against Ankano.
- When Ankano dies, talk to Tolfdir - the old man will just have time to come to his senses. This will take you to the next phase of the quest.
