Learn how to play Resident Evil 6 co-op online and split-screen in this article. Before starting a cooperative game, one player must complete the Prologue.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Preparing to Play
Step 1. Check if everything is done
Your actions depend on whether you are going to play online or split screen.
- If you are playing split screen, make sure you and your friend are logged into your profiles.
- If you are playing an online game, make sure you are connected to the internet.
Step 2. Start the game
Insert the Resident Evil 6 disc into your console, or open Resident Evil 6 via Steam (if you're playing on a computer).
Step 3. Complete the Prologue
If you haven't played Resident Evil 6 yet, go through the interactive splash screen to open the game menu. The prologue lasts about 15 minutes.
Once you've completed the Prologue, you may need to press the Start button on your controller
Part 2 of 4: Standalone Cooperative Play
Step 1. Select Play
It's an option at the top of the menu.
Step 2. Select Campaign
You will find this option at the top of the menu.
Step 3. Select Continue
In this case, the game will start from the last saved checkpoint.
To start the game at a specific level, select "Chapter Select" and then select a campaign and a level
Step 4. Change the screen mode
Select the "Screen Mode" option, and then switch its value to "Split" - to do this, tilt the right controller knob to the right.
On your computer, click the right arrow icon next to Single
Step 5. Select OK
Press A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation) on your controller, or press ↵ Enter on your computer.
Step 6. Let the second player choose a character
After selecting a character, press the Start button on the second player's controller or press ↵ Enter on the computer.
Step 7. Select Start Game
It's an option at the bottom of the screen. The co-op game Resident Evil 6 will launch.
Part 3 of 4: Hosting an Online Cooperative Game
Step 1. Select Play
It's an option at the top of the menu.
Step 2. Select Campaign
You will find this option at the top of the menu.
Step 3. Select Select Chapter
It's an option in the middle of the menu.
Step 4. Choose a character, campaign and level
Step 5. Make sure the "Screen Mode" option is "Single"
If not, select Screen Mode and switch from Split to Single.
Step 6. Select OK
Press A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation) on your controller, or press ↵ Enter on your computer.
Step 7. Configure the network parameters
Select "Network Selection" and then switch the value of this option to "XBOX LIVE" (Xbox), "PLAYSTATION NETWORK" (PlayStation), or "Online" (computer).
Step 8. Allow users to join your game
Select Join Partner at the top of the menu and then switch this option to Allowed.
Step 9. Change the location settings
Select "Location Settings" and then switch the value of this option to "World".
Step 10. Select Start Game
It's an option at the bottom of the menu. You will be taken to the Co-op Conference.
Step 11. Wait for someone to join your game
When this happens, the online co-op game will begin.
Part 4 of 4: Joining an online co-op game
Step 1. Select Play
It's an option at the top of the menu.
Step 2. Select Campaign
You will find this option at the top of the menu.
Step 3. Select Join Game
It's an option in the middle of the menu.
Step 4. Select Custom Match
You will find this option at the bottom of the menu.
If you wish, change the difficulty of the game before choosing the indicated option
Step 5. Adjust the game settings
Here you can change the difficulty of the game, select a campaign, adjust the location and other parameters.
If you are joining a game that is hosted by a friend, your campaign and game parameters must match the host's campaign and game parameters
Step 6. Select Search
A list of eligible servers will be displayed.
Step 7. Select the game you want to join
To do this, select a game and then select "Join".
Advice
- While playing an online game, chat with a teammate to coordinate attacks, reloads, and the like.
- Connect to the internet with an Ethernet cable to increase your connection speed.
