Sometimes a blocked website makes it difficult to keep in touch with family and friends. Typically, sites are blocked by governments or ISPs for censorship reasons. In addition, many sites are blocked on work and school computers. In most cases, popular sites such as YouTube and Facebook are blocked. In this article, we will tell you how to bypass blocking and open a blocked site for free - no special knowledge and skills are required.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Using a proxy server

Step 1. Find a quality proxy server
Requests from your computer will go through a proxy server, allowing you to open a blocked site. Moreover, when your traffic is going through a proxy server, your IP address and location cannot be determined.
A high-quality proxy server has a minimum of ads or pop-ups. Keep in mind that excessive advertising is common with most free proxy servers

Step 2. Enter the URL of the blocked site you want to open
Do this in the special address bar on the proxy server website. When you open a blocked site, the proxy server name will be displayed in the menu bar - this means that you opened the site through a proxy and not directly.

Step 3. Press "Go" or Enter
The blocked site will open through a proxy server on your device. Please note that the time it takes to load sites through a proxy server increases.
Method 2 of 5: Using an online translator

Step 1. Open the website of the online translator
Such translators can be used as proxy servers - in this case, the translated version of the blocked site will open. That is, the content of a blocked site can be viewed without opening it.

Step 2. Enter the web address of the blocked site
Do this in the left translator window. Now select the language into which the site content will be translated. You can ask to translate the content from Russian into Russian.

Step 3. Click Translate or a similar button
The screen will display the content of the blocked site. Use this method when you need to quickly open a blocked site and do not have time to search for alternative solutions.
Method 3 of 5: Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Step 1. Download the VPN client
It can be used to open any blocked site. Keep in mind that most VPN services are paid; if the VPN is free, there will be ads on it.
- If you do not know the administrative password for your computer (as it happens at work or school), use another method.
- We recommend using this method to open blocked sites on mobile devices. The VPN client can be downloaded from the app store. Many VPN clients are available in both desktop and mobile versions.

Step 2. Install the VPN client
To do this, double-click on the downloaded file, and then follow the instructions on the screen. Now launch your web browser and open any sites in it.

Step 3. Enter the URL of the blocked site in a web browser to open the site
Keep in mind that a VPN is more secure than a proxy server. Once you install the VPN client, no additional steps are required - just launch your browser and open the desired site.
Method 4 of 5: Using a URL shortening service

Step 1. Go to the URL shortening service website
You can find many such services on the Internet - any of them will suit you.

Step 2. Enter the URL of the blocked site
Click the button on the service website to display a shortened version of the address. This shortened URL can be used to open a blocked site. Remember that the shortened version will not look like the full site address.

Step 3. Copy the shortened address and paste it into the address bar of your web browser
This way you can bypass the blocking of the site. Typically, a shortened version of the URL will redirect you to the unblocked version of the site.
Method 5 of 5: Using the web cache

Step 1. Open Google search engine in your web browser
If you are using Google Chrome, use the address bar of that browser.

Step 2. Enter “cache:"And the URL of the blocked website.
Search engines keep copies of all web pages uploaded to the internet. If you open a cached page, you don't need to go to the site itself

Step 3. View the cached version of the site that is stored by Google
Please note that this version of the site may be outdated. To open the latest version of the site, use the other methods described in this article.
Advice
- Use a proxy server with caution because some of them track users' personal information.
- If you can't open a blocked site on a mobile device, try disconnecting from the wireless network and then turning on the mobile Internet.
- Be aware that some blocked sites may contain malware.
