Java is a popular programming language and platform for interactive or dynamic websites and web applications. But Java can take up a lot of device memory or slow down the browser. Moreover, Java can cause security issues. To troubleshoot the described problems, simply disable Java.
Be aware that disabling Java can cause problems with websites that use the Java Platform plugin to display content; it can also cause problems with games that use Java, such as Minecraft.

Steps
Part 1 of 4: How to Disable Java System-Wide

Step 1. Close all running browsers
This will avoid conflicts when you disable Java.

Step 2. Open the Java Control Panel
This can be done on Windows and Mac:
- Windows - Open Control Panel from the Start Menu. Windows 8.1 users must right-click on the Start Menu. From the View menu in the upper-right corner of the Control Panel, choose Large Icons or Small Icons. Now click on "Java" to open the Java Control Panel.
- Mac - Open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences. Click on the Java icon to open the Java Control Panel.

Step 3. Click the Security tab
It's at the top of the window.

Step 4. Uncheck the box next to “Enable Java content in the browser”
Java will be disabled. Click Apply to save your changes.

Step 5. Disable Java in your browser
To do this, use the methods that are described in the following sections of this article. If you are using Internet Explorer, Java will be disabled when you follow the steps in this section.
Part 2 of 4: How to disable Java in Chrome

Step 1. Launch Chrome and enter chrome: // plugins / in the address bar
A list of Chrome plugins will open.

Step 2. Click on "Disable" in the "Java (TM)" section
Java will be disabled.

Step 3. Restart Chrome
Do this for your changes to take effect.
Part 3 of 4: How to disable Java in Firefox

Step 1. Start Firefox and enter about: addons in the address bar
The Firefox Add-on Manager will open.

Step 2. Click on the "Plugins" section
A list of installed plugins will open.

Step 3. Find the line "Java (TM) Platform"
Open the menu that is located on the right side of this row and select "Never turn on" in it. Java will be disabled.

Step 4. Restart Firefox
Do this for your changes to take effect.
Part 4 of 4: How to Disable Java in Safari

Step 1. Open the "Safari" menu and select "Options" in it

Step 2. Click on the "Security" tab
Now click on Manage Website Settings.

Step 3. Select "Java" in the left pane
This will open a list of sites that have Java enabled.

Step 4. Click on the "When visiting other websites" pop-up menu and select "Block" from it
Java will be disabled on sites not listed. Now click on Finish.

Step 5. Restart Safari
Do this for your changes to take effect.
