LRC files sync with your music player and display the lyrics of the song that is playing. These are simple text files that contain timestamps that dictate to the program when the text should appear. You can download them from the Internet or create yourself if you cannot find the file. Follow this tutorial to learn how.
Method 1 of 2: Find LRC Files
Step 1. Find the LRC files you need
Since LRC files are no longer as popular, there are few places left where you can download them. The best way to search is this: in the search bar, type the name of the song and “lrc”. Similarly, you can search by artist name.
- Use advanced search
filetype: lrcto get search results that contain LRC files.
Step 2. Save the LRC file on your computer
If the file opens only as a text document, click your Browser Menu or the File button and select “Save As …”. Switch the save format to “All” and save the file to your computer.
Step 3. Move the LRC file to the location you want
The LRC file must be in the same folder as the song and you must have the same file name. If the LRC file does not have the same name, then it will not be opened by the media player.
Step 4. Create your LRC file
If you cannot find the required LRC file, then you can create it using Notepad or TextEdit. You will need to enter the timestamps yourself, which can be a little tedious, but the result will be a text file that you can proudly call your own.
Method 2 of 2: Download the Media Player Plugin
Step 1. Find a plugin that is compatible with your media player
There are several options available, most of which work with the most popular media players. These plugins have libraries of lyrics that are constantly updated, so you don't have to mess with downloading and renaming LRC files. Among the most popular programs are:
Step 2. Run the plugin along with your media player
The installation is different for each plugin, but basically, the plugin will start automatically when you download a song. The plugin will find a database for lyrics that match your song and display the lyrics for you.
Step 3. Add your text
If the song you want to play is not supported by the plugin, add your lyrics to help the community. Just embed the words in a text file and load it into your plugin library. The process is slightly different on different plugins, so check your software's documentation.
