In this article, we'll show you how to create a Discord poll on your iPhone / iPad using a channel, website, or bot.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Channel
Step 1. Launch Discord
Click on the icon that looks like a white game controller on a blue or purple background. This icon is on the home screen.
Step 2. Tap the server you want to connect to
Servers are listed in the left pane of the screen.
Step 3. Push ⋯
You will find this icon at the top of the screen (next to the server name).
Step 4. Tap Create Channel
This channel will be for polling only; this way you will get the best results.
Step 5. Enter a name for the survey
It will appear as the channel name in the server list. Perhaps the name of the survey will be similar to the survey question.
Step 6. Tap Create
Step 7. Adjust the permissions for the channel
- Click on the channel name in the list.
- Tap the channel name at the top of the screen.
- Click Permissions.
- Select "@everyone".
- Activate the options "View messages", "View message history" and "Add reaction".
- Click the "X" for other options.
- Return to the channel when done.
Step 8. Enter your poll question and voting instructions
For example:
Do you like pizza? If yes, click on the smiling emoji, if not, click on the angry emoji
Step 9. Ask people to vote
To do this, report the survey on a different channel or simply send private messages. When a sufficient number of users have voted, check how many emoticons a particular response has received.
Method 2 of 3: Website
Step 1. Launch Safari on iPhone / iPad
Tap the blue and white compass icon on the home screen.
Step 2. Open a site where you can create a survey
Popular sites are https://Poll-maker.com and
Step 3. Enter your question in the Type your question here field
In this article we will look at the Poll-maker.com site, although the instructions outlined can be applied to another similar site.
Step 4. Enter your answers in the blank fields
For example, if you want to choose one of three colors in a survey, enter a name for each color.
- For answers, you can simply enter “Yes” and “No”.
- To add more answers, click Add Answer.
Step 5. Click Create Free Poll
Two links will be created, one to the survey and the other to the results.
Step 6. Copy the first link
To do this, press and hold the link, tap Select All, and then tap Copy.
Step 7. Paste the link into your post or Discord channel
To do this, open a message or channel, press and hold the message box, and then tap Paste. We recommend that you enter some information behind the link, such as the name or the reason for creating the survey.
Step 8. Review the survey results
Open Safari, copy the link from the second "Results" field as you copied the link to the survey, and then paste it into the Safari address bar (top of the screen).
Method 3 of 3: Bot
Step 1. Open the Poll Bot page
Go to https://botlist.co/bots/2520-poll-bot on iPhone / iPad. You can create polls with this free Discord bot.
Step 2. Tap Discord
You will find this option under the "Get this bot on" section. You will be taken to the login page on Discord.
Step 3. Log in to Discord
Enter your email address and password and then click Sign In.
Step 4. Select the server to add the bot to
Do this in the "Add bot to server" menu.
Step 5. Click Authorize
Step 6. Tap I'm not a robot
The bot will be added to the Discord server. Now you need to launch the Discord application.
Step 7. Launch Discord
Click on the icon that looks like a white game controller on a blue or purple background. This icon is on the home screen.
Step 8. Tap the server with the Poll Bot
Servers are listed in the left pane of the screen.
Step 9. Tap the channel on which you want to create a poll
The channel will open.
Step 10. Add the bot to the channel
For this:
- Click on the channel name at the top of the screen.
- Tap "Permissions" under "Settings".
- Click Add Member.
- Select "Poll Bot".
- Turn on the "View Messages" and "Send Messages" options on the permissions page.
- Press the Back button until you return to the channel.
Step 11. Create a "straw survey"
Such a survey allows you to enter an unlimited number of answers. If you want users to vote using emoticons (for example, answering “yes” or “no”), go to the next step.
- Enter + strawpoll # in the text box. Replace "#" with the number of possible responses. For example, if the answers are red, green, and blue, enter + strawpoll3.
- Click Submit.
- Enter your question and tap Submit.
- Enter the first answer and click Submit.
- Enter other answers as first. When you're done, the bot will display a link to the survey.
- Share the link to the survey with other people - they will touch the link and vote on the page that opens.
Step 12. Create a survey, the answers to which will be marked with emoticons
For this:
- Enter + poll [question]. Replace [question] with a survey question.
- Click Submit. The bot will display three emoticons. People will be able to vote by clicking on one of the emojis. Then check how many emoticons a particular response received.
