In this article, you will learn how to save snapshots and chats in Snapchat on your phone for your personal archive.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Save the chat

Step 1. Launch Snapchat by clicking on the yellow icon with a white ghost
The first thing you will be taken to is the Snapchat camera interface.

Step 2. Swipe right to display the chat menu and select the chat you are interested in
A chat that you have already opened and closed cannot be saved

Step 3. Swipe right on the desired chat to open it

Step 4. Press and hold the text you want to save
After that, the background will turn gray, and the message Saved will appear on the left side of the chat.
- Not only the recipient's chats are eligible for saving, but also your private chats.
- Follow the same steps to cancel saving the chat. If you leave the conversation, the unsaved chat will disappear.

Step 5. To view your saved chat, open the conversation
The saved chat will appear at the top of the chat window and will remain there until you delete it.
Method 2 of 3: Take a screenshot of the photo

Step 1. Launch Snapchat by clicking on the yellow icon with a white ghost

Step 2. Swipe right to display the chat menu
You cannot take a screenshot of a photo that you have already opened and closed

Step 3. Click on the snapshot you want to take a screenshot of
You will have 1 to 10 seconds to take a screenshot of the photo until it disappears.
Press and hold an already viewed photo to play it again (valid only once a day). If you exit the Snapchat app, you will no longer be able to re-launch the snapshot

Step 4. Take a screenshot using the correct keyboard shortcut on your phone
This will take a screenshot of the snapshot you are currently viewing. Your contact will receive a notification that you have taken a screenshot.
- For iPhone: Press and release the Sleep / Wake and Home buttons at the same time. A subsequent camera click and screen flash will indicate that you have successfully captured a screenshot.
- For most Android phones: Press the Power / Lock and Volume Down buttons at the same time. On some Android phones, you need to press the Power / Lock and Home buttons.

Step 5. Open your phone's photo gallery
The snapshot will be saved in the default snapshot folder.
- On iPhone, the screenshot will be in the Screenshots album in the Photos app, as well as in the Camera Roll.
- The time indicator will remain in the screenshot, which will be located at the top right.
Method 3 of 3: Save your own snapshot

Step 1. Launch Snapchat by clicking on the yellow icon with a white ghost

Step 2. Take a picture
Click on the Capture icon at the bottom of the screen to take a photo or hold it down to record a video.

Step 3. Click on the Download button
It is next to the snapshot timer in the lower-left corner of the screen and looks like a downward-pointing arrow.

Step 4. Open your phone's photo gallery
The snapshot will be saved in the default folder. It will contain all your pictures.
