How to set animated wallpaper

Animated wallpapers will bring any background to life and draw attention to your computer screen. In some early versions of Windows, the animated wallpaper was handled by the system itself, but now you need to use an application from Microsoft or a third-party developer to set the animated wallpaper on Windows or Mac OS. Method 1 of 3: Using the App (Windows 10)

Step 1. Open the Windows Store

If your computer (or smartphone) is running Windows 10, you can download the animated wallpaper application from the Windows Store. There are several similar apps in the store.

• Open the Windows Store and enter this store.

• In the search bar, enter "dynamic wallpaper" or "animated wallpaper" (without quotes).

Step 2. Select an application

There are free and paid apps for setting animated wallpapers. Read user reviews and choose the app that suits your needs.

• Click on Install the application and wait for the installation to complete on your Windows 10 device.

Step 3. Choose a wallpaper

You can choose the latest wallpapers from the Bing Gallery, up to 5 images stored on your computer, or download images from the Internet and convert them to animated wallpapers.

• Run the application.
• Find the wallpapers or images you want and set them as your animated background.

Method 2 of 3: Using DeskScapes 8

Step 1. Download the application

DeskScape 8 is a third-party application developed by Stardock that allows you to install animated wallpapers on a computer running Windows 7/8/10. Stardock is the developer of Deskscenes, a program that came preinstalled on some early versions of Windows. There is a 30-day trial version of the program so that the user can test its work without any expenses; after 30 days, you need to buy the program (you do not need to reinstall it).

Go to the Stardock website to download Deskscape 8, select the DeskScapes installer, agree to a 30-day trial, and download the program

Step 2. Start the installation process

Open the folder with the downloaded installation file and double-click on the file DeskScapes8_cnet-setup.exe.

In Windows 10, install the program in compatibility mode: right-click on the installation file, in the menu that opens, select the compatibility mode and in the drop-down menu click "Windows 8"

Step 3. Install DeskScapes 8

Click on Install and follow the instructions on the screen.

Register the application. Although a 30-day trial is installed, you also need to register and allow the app to pass verification in order to complete the installation and start using the trial

Step 4. Find a new wallpaper

You can find background images and create wallpapers on the WinCustomize site.

• Select the desired image / animation and download it / her to your computer.
• Double click on the downloaded image to enable it with DeskScapes app.

Method 3 of 3: Using Nerdtool (Mac OS)

Step 1. Download the application

Nerdtool is a third-party application that allows you to display not only animated wallpapers but also other elements on your desktop.

• Open the MutableCode website and download Nerdtool.

• Write down where the file with the extension is downloaded. .dmg.

  

  Step 2. Start the installation process

  Open the folder with the downloaded file and click on the file with the extension .dmg.

  If prompted, enter your administrator password to allow installation and follow the onscreen instructions.

  

  Step 3. Set the animated wallpaper on your desktop

  Mac OS has animation files that can be used as animated wallpapers for the desktop, such as animated screensavers (Quartz animation).

  • Launch the Nerdtool program by clicking on it icon.

  • Click the icon +to add animation, and from the menu select Quartz.

  • Under the line Way click Find and open the folder /System / Library / Screen Savers.

  • Select any file with the extension .qtz; to do this, check the box next to the file name.
  • In chapter Frame frequency set the value to "30" (frames per second); do this with the slider in the middle.

  

  Step 4. Find a new wallpaper

  There are many resources on the Internet where you can download or buy Quartz files.

  • Buy and / or download your favorite Quartz file.
  • Save the file with the extension .qtz on the computer.
  • Run Nerdtool and open the folder with the.qtz file (as described in the previous step).
