Over time, it becomes more difficult for the processor in a MacBook laptop to correctly determine the battery charge level. In this article, we'll walk you through how to calibrate your battery to optimize your laptop's performance.
Steps
Step 1. Plug your MacBook into an electrical outlet
Step 2. Wait until the battery is fully charged
This will change the color of the indicator on the power adapter from orange (battery charging) to green (battery charged). To verify this, turn the laptop over and press the button on the battery - if the battery is fully charged, all lights will turn green. You can also check the battery level on the taskbar.
Step 3. Make sure the battery remains fully charged for at least two hours
To do this, do not disconnect the laptop from the electrical outlet; also make sure the indicator is green. However, continue to use your laptop as usual. But don't turn off your laptop.
Step 4. Unplug the laptop from the electrical outlet (unplug the power adapter)
Step 5. Completely discharge the battery
To do this, use your laptop as usual, and when the low battery message appears, save your files or the game. As soon as the battery level drops to a critical level, the laptop will automatically enter sleep mode.
Step 6. Leave the laptop in sleep mode for at least five hours
This discharges the battery completely and the processor detects a zero charge.
Step 7. Charge the laptop battery
The battery is calibrated.
