Do you want to upgrade your optical drive (CD / DVD drive) or install another one? Then read this article.
Steps

Step 1. Read your computer manual and make sure you want to use the optical drive

Step 2. Wear an anti-static wrist strap or touch the metal surface of the computer case to discharge static electricity

Step 3. Turn off the computer and disconnect the cables from it

Step 4. Open the computer case

Step 5. Disconnect the power and data cables from the installed optical drive

Step 6. Unscrew the screws and slide the drive out of the chassis

Step 7. If you want to install a different optical drive, remove the drive bay cover

Step 8. Install the jumper on the back of the drive
By default, the jumper is set to the “Master” position.
If you are connecting a second optical drive, set the jumper to the "Slave" position

Step 9. Place the drive into the drive bay

Step 10. Locate the power and data cables

Step 11. Connect the power and data cables to the drive
- In the case of an IDE drive, the tab on the data cable connector must align with the notch on the drive connector. Then plug in the 4-pin power cable.
- In the case of a SATA drive, the tab on the data cable connector must line up with the notch on the drive connector. Then plug in the SATA power cable.
- If there is little space in the chassis, first connect the cables and then properly install the drive in the drive bay.

Step 12. Connect the audio cable
The audio cable connects to the Audio-out connector on the drive and to the CD-IN connector on the sound card

Step 13. Close the computer cases

Step 14. Turn on your computer
The BIOS should recognize the new optical drive.
- Windows will install the drivers required for the new CD / DVD drive to work.
- Open My Computer to view the installed drive.
