This article will show you how to scan documents on your computer using your Canon multifunction printer. This can be done on a Windows computer and Mac OS X.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: How to Prepare to Scan

Step 1. Make sure your Canon printer has a scanner
If the printer is a multifunctional printer (MFP), then it has a scanner. Other models also have a scanning function, but it's better to make sure of this (read the instructions for the printer or its page on the manufacturer's website).

Step 2. Connect the printer to your computer
Most Canon printers that scan documents can be connected wirelessly using the touch panel, but it is better if you connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
Most printers are sold with a USB cable that can be used if the wireless function does not work

Step 3. Turn on the printer
To do this, press the power button on the printer body. If the printer does not turn on, make sure it is connected to a power source.

Step 4. Open the scanner
Lift the scanner lid - you will see the inside (glass) surface.
- If your Canon printer has a paper feeder, put the document in the tray. Curl up with the symbol on the tray to understand how to insert the paper correctly.
- Check your printer's manual if you are unsure how to use the built-in scanner.

Step 5. Place the document face down in the scanner
There is a symbol next to the glass surface that tells you how to properly place the document in the scanner.

Step 6. Close the scanner cover
Make sure the scanner is closed securely before scanning a document.
