Learn how to do duplex printing on Windows and Mac OS X in this article. If your printer does not support duplex printing, do it manually.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: On Windows

Step 1. Click on the File menu
As a rule, it is located in the upper left part of the window.
- First, open what you want to print (document, presentation, and so on).
- If you cannot find the File menu, press the Ctrl key on your keyboard.

Step 2. Click Print
Typically, the Print option is found in the File drop-down menu, but may appear as a button if the File menu opens in a separate window.
If you don't see the File menu, press Ctrl + P

Step 3. Click on the duplex option
In most cases, you just need to click on the current print option (for example, click on "Single Sided") and then select "Double Sided" from the drop-down menu.
- The page setup can be found under Page Layout or Duplex Printing.
- In Microsoft Word, click Print on One-Sided to access the two-sided printing option.

Step 4. Make sure the printer is connected to your computer
The name of the active printer appears in the Printer menu at the top of the window.
- If necessary, connect the printer cable to a USB port on your computer.
- To select a different printer, open the Printer menu (click on the name of the active printer) and then select the desired printer from the drop-down menu.

Step 5. Click Print
Typically, this button is at the bottom of the window, but in Microsoft Word it is located at the top of the window. When you click Print, the printer will start printing your document.
Method 2 of 3: On Mac OS X

Step 1. Click on the File menu
It is usually found on the left side of the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- First, open what you want to print (document, presentation, and so on).
- If you can't find the File menu, press the ⌘ Command key on your keyboard.

Step 2. Click Print
It's in the File drop-down menu. The "Print" window will open.
If you don't see the File menu, press ⌘ Command + P

Step 3. Click on the Copies & Pages panel
You will find this option at the top of the window.
If you are printing an online document, skip this step and the next

Step 4. Click Page Layout
It's in the middle of the dropdown menu.

Step 5. Activate the duplex option
The name of this option depends on the program in which the document is open.
- For example, in Safari, check the box next to the "Two-sided" option.
- In Word, click the square icon next to the Double Sided option; a dropdown menu will open. From this menu, select Long Edge Binding.

Step 6. Make sure the printer is connected to your computer
The name of the active printer appears in the Printer menu at the top of the window.
To select a different printer, open the Printer menu (click on the name of the active printer) and then select the desired printer from the drop-down menu

Step 7. Click Print
This button is at the bottom of the window. The printer starts printing the document in 2-sided format.
Method 3 of 3: How to perform manual 2-sided printing

Step 1. At the top of the sheet of paper, mark with a pencil
That is, make a mark on the front of the sheet near the short edge that will be inserted into the printer.

Step 2. Click Fileand then press Seal.
The File menu is in the upper left corner of the screen, and the Print option is in the drop-down menu. The "Print" window will open.
- First, open what you want to print (document, presentation, and so on).
- Alternatively, you can press ⌘ Command + P (Mac OS X) or Ctrl + P (Windows) to open the Print window.

Step 3. Find the "Pages" section
In this section, you can enter the page numbers to be printed.
In the "Pages" section, check the box next to the "Numbers" option

Step 4. Enter even or odd numbers (page numbers)
This will tell you which pages to print for the first time.
For example, if your document is ten pages long, enter either 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 or 2, 4, 6, 8, 10

Step 5. Make sure the printer is connected to your computer
The name of the active printer appears in the Printer menu at the top of the window.
To select a different printer, open the Printer menu (click on the name of the active printer) and then select the desired printer from the drop-down menu

Step 6. Click Print
Only odd or even pages will be printed (depending on which page numbers you entered).

Step 7. Look at the pencil mark to see which side of the sheet the text is printed on
This will determine how to insert the reprint paper.
- If the label and text are on the same side of the sheet, flip the sheet text side down, label first.
- If the label and text are on opposite sides of the sheet, flip the text label first up.

Step 8. Insert the printed sheets into the printer
Do it as described in the previous step.

Step 9. Open the "Print" window
To do this, press ⌘ Command + P (Mac OS X) or Ctrl + P (Windows).

Step 10. Enter odd or even page numbers
For example, if you have already printed the even-numbered pages, enter the odd-numbered numbers.

Step 11. Click Print
If you inserted the paper correctly into the printer, the text will be printed on the blank side of the sheets, on the other side of which the text is already printed.
