Learn how to set up a browser other than Safari as the default browser on your Mac. Such a browser can be Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera or any other that is installed on the computer.
Steps

Step 1. Download the required web browser
Do this if you don't have the browser you want on your computer.
- Google Chrome: Go to the Chrome download page and click on the blue Download Chrome button.
- Firefox: Go to the Firefox download page and click the green Download Now button.
- Opera: Go to the Opera download page and click the green Download Now button.

Step 2. Install the browser
For this:
- double click on the downloaded DMG file;
- follow the instructions on the screen;
- drag the browser icon to the Applications folder;
- hold down Control while clicking on the DMG window;
- click "Checkout" in the dropdown menu.

Step 3. Open the Apple menu

To do this, click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 4. Click System Preferences
It's near the top of the menu. The System Preferences window will open.

Step 5. Click General
It's in the upper-left corner of the System Preferences window. Here you can change the main web browser.

Step 6. Open the "Primary Browser" menu
It's in the middle of the page.

Step 7. Select the required browser
Do this in the dropdown menu. If the browser you want is installed on your computer, it will appear in the menu.
If the browser you want is not in the menu, restart your computer, open the System Preferences window and try again

Step 8. Close the "System Preferences" window
The changes made will be saved; links will now open in the new main browser.
