How to clean the Macbook Pro screen

Use caution when cleaning your Macbook Pro screen, as wipes and fabrics that are too hard or too damp can seriously damage your computer. In this article, we have collected several ways to clean your Macbook Pro screen and not worry about its safety.

Method 1 of 4: Buffing with a dry cloth

Step 1. Turn off your computer

• If you only clean your computer with a dry cloth, you can leave the power cord. Nevertheless, even in this case, it is advisable to pull out the cable - just in case.

Step 2. Wipe the screen

Wipe the screen thoroughly with a microfiber cloth, making small circular motions. You can press on the screen, but very, very gently.

• A special microfiber will work best for cleaning the optics, although any other fabric that is soft, non-fibrous, and does not collect static will do. Of course, you cannot wipe the screens with abrasive cloths, dish towels or paper towels.

• It may take you a full five minutes or more to wipe everything off the screen.

• Hold the monitor to avoid accidentally splattering it again.

Method 2 of 4: Cleaning with a damp cloth

Step 1. Turn off your computer

Turn off your Macbook Pro, unplug the power cord.

Step 2. Dampen a soft cloth with water

You need little water, so little that the fabric is barely damp.

• Use only a soft cloth. A non-fibrous fabric that does not collect static is best, although most non-abrasive fabrics will work as well. Again, no dish towels, paper towels, or rough rags!
• Do not immerse the cloth in water, or it is likely to collect excess water, which will accidentally leak into the computer case and cause damage. If you accidentally overdo it with water, squeeze the fabric out thoroughly.
• It is best to use distilled water, because there are no minerals in it, which in the future can cause a short circuit.
• Never wash your Macbook Pro screen directly under the tap, unless you want to ruin your computer with a 99.9% probability! Just a slightly damp cloth, just like that!

• Use only LCD cleaners. All-purpose cleaners, alcohol-based products, chlorine bleach, aerosols, solvents, and emery are not good unless you want to kill your screen.
• Do not apply cleaner directly to the screen - it can run down to the electronics, which is a direct road to short circuits.

• The main thing is not to buy alcohol-based wipes, as alcohol is extremely harmful to the coating of LCD screens.

• Spread a towel under the computer on a flat surface, and lower the computer itself onto the monitor so that the apple logo lies on the towel. Hold the keyboard with one hand, the other - wipe the screen, not forgetting about the tips collected in this article. This will prevent the screen from bending or wet the keyboard.
