If you're not a Mac user, beach balls make you think of fun, beach, and so on. But for Mac users, it's a little spinning logo that we don't want to see … but sometimes it keeps spinning for hours. This article will show you how to defrost your Mac and get rid of that annoying colorful ball.
Steps
Step 1. Once your cursor starts rotating, do not click anything for at least 30 seconds
Sometimes, when it starts spinning, it means that there is a slow script on the web page or something else. Follow this tip especially if you're working on a large document or file in iMovie or GarageBand.
Step 2. If it doesn't respond and you are working on something, press COMMAND + S to try to save the file
Step 3. After that press Command + Option + ESC
This will open the Pre-Quit Programs window. Select the program labeled "Not Responding" at the end of its name and click "Finish." This will take approximately 15 seconds. Step 4. Quit other programs regularly, then try opening the one you want with a minimum of other programs running.
Advice
- In most cases, you can find your unsaved work in iMovie in the Trash.
- If the program that didn't respond was Safari, reopen it and try clearing the cache.
