Playing games on Mac is a good experience. However, a good controller can greatly improve this experience and push the boundaries. Unlike PC, not many controllers are available for Mac. Fortunately, you can use a Playstation 3 Dualshock 3 wireless controller. To learn how to play games on your Mac using a PS3 controller, read the steps below.
Steps

Step 1. Make sure you have everything you need
You will need a Dualshock 3 wireless controller, a mini USB cable, a game that supports Bluetooth controllers and OS X Mavericks.

Step 2. Go to Bluetooth settings
Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner, then select "System Preferences." (System Settings). Click "Bluetooth."

Step 3. Turn on Bluetooth

Step 4. Connect your PS3 controller to your Mac
Use a USB Mini-B cable to connect your controller to your Mac. The controller will appear in the list of Bluetooth devices, but it will be shown that the controller is “not connected.”

Step 5. Press the PS button on your controller

Step 6. Remove the USB cable connected to the controller

Step 7. Connect the controller to the Mac
You will be prompted for a password. Enter 0000 and click "Pair".
Advice
- You only need to complete these steps once. As long as the Mac detects the controller, you can use it and play games.
- Also make sure the game you are playing supports a Bluetooth controller. To find out, look at the back of the game packaging or on the website.
