This article will show you how to delete cookies on a Mac OS X computer in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. Cookies are temporary files associated with the sites you have accessed. Please note that deleting cookies will improve browser performance, but you will have to re-enter the desired sites.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Safari

Step 1. Open Safari
This browser has a blue compass icon.

Step 2. Click on Safari
This menu is in the upper left corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 3. Click on Settings
It's near the top of the Safari drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click on the Privacy tab
You will find it on the right side of the preferences window.

Step 5. Click Manage Website Data
It's in the middle of the page. On older versions of Mac OS X, click Remove All Site Data.

Step 6. Click Delete All
It's in the lower-left side of the window.

Step 7. Click Remove when prompted
Safari cookies will be removed.

Step 8. Clear the Safari cache to get rid of any leftover cookies
If, after deleting cookies, some of them remain in the browser, clear the Safari cache to get rid of all files except settings and bookmarks. For this:
- open the "Safari" menu;
- click "Settings";
- go to the "Additional" tab;
- check the box next to "Show Develop menu in menu bar";
- open the "Development" menu;
- click "Clear cache".
Method 2 of 3: Google Chrome

Step 1. Open Google Chrome

The browser icon looks like a red-yellow-green circle with a blue center.

Step 2. Click on Chrome
It's in the upper-left corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 3. Click on Wipe Data
It's near the top of the drop-down menu. A window with data will open.

Step 4. Select a time interval
Open the menu to the right of Remove the following items from and select one of the following options:
- over the past hour;
- for yesterday;
- last week;
- for the last 4 weeks;

for all the time.

Be sure to check the box next to this option if you want to delete cookies; you can also check the boxes for other options you want in the open window.

It's a blue button in the lower-right corner of the window. Chrome cookies will be removed.
Method 3 of 3: Firefox

This menu is in the upper left side of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.

It's in the drop-down menu. A window will open.

Open the menu to the right of Delete and select one of the following options:
- In the last hour;
- In the last two hours;
- In the last four hours;
- For today;

Everything.

Be sure to check the box next to this option if you want to delete cookies; you can also check the boxes for other options you want in the open window.

You don't need to clear your Safari cache on a regular basis, but doing it from time to time will not degrade your browser performance
