You were unable to install some Windows updates and you are not sure how to reinstall them? This procedure will allow you to start over and install any available Windows updates.
Note: The steps described are for Windows Vista.
Steps
Step 1. Click "Start", type services.msc in the search bar and press Enter
Step 2. Stop the Windows Update service
Leave the Services window open to restart this service in step 4.
Step 3. Open folder C:\ WINDOWS and delete the SoftwareDistribution folder in it.
Step 4. Restart the Windows Update service
Step 5. Click "Start", type Windows Update in the search bar and press Enter
Windows Update will inform you that you have never checked for updates.
Step 6. Click Check for Updates and get ready to install updates
Step 7. Restart your computer after the first updates have been installed
Before doing this, save your open files and documents.
