This article will show you how to burn music to a CD on a Windows 7 computer. If your computer has the appropriate hardware, you can burn CDs using the preinstalled Windows Media Player.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: How to check your computer hardware

Step 1. Open the Start Menu

Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen. To burn CDs, you need an optical burner.

Step 2. Click on Computer
It's an option on the right side of the Start menu. The "Computer" window will open.
If there is no Computer option on the Start menu, type computer in the Start menu search bar, and then click Computer at the top of the Start menu

Step 3. Select your CD drive
Click on it in the "Devices and Disks" section in the middle of the page. A CD drive is usually marked with a CD-ROM drive icon.

Step 4. Click on Computer
It's in the upper-left corner of the Computer window. The toolbar will open (at the top of the window).
Alternatively, you can right-click on the CD drive

Step 5. Click Properties
It's a white square icon with a red check mark on the left of the Computer toolbar. A window with the properties of the optical drive will open.
If you right-clicked on the CD drive, the Properties option is at the bottom of the menu

Step 6. Look at the Burn tab
It should be in the upper right corner of the Properties window. If this tab is active, your optical drive can burn CDs.
If the Burn tab is not there, buy an external optical drive that plugs into your computer's USB port. Such a drive costs less than 3,000 rubles
Part 2 of 2: How to Burn a CD

Step 1. Make sure the disc is empty
To burn an audio CD, you need a blank CD-R disc. If you don't have a blank CD, buy one from an electronics store.

Step 2. Insert the CD into the optical drive
Press the button to open the drive tray, place a disc in it, and then close the tray.
If an autorun window opens, close it

Step 3. Open the Start Menu

Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 4. Type windows media player into the start menu
This will search for Windows Media Player.

Step 5. Click on Windows Media Player
It's a blue icon with an orange circle and a white triangle. Windows Media Player will open.

Step 6. Click Record
This tab is in the upper-right corner of the Windows Media Player window. A side pane opens (on the right side of the Windows Media Player window).

Step 7. Click "Options"
It's a white square icon with green checkmarks in the upper-right corner of the sidebar. A menu will open.

Step 8. Click on Audio CD
Now you can burn an audio CD.

Step 9. Select the music you want
Drag songs or albums to the sidebar. They will be added to the recording queue.

Step 10. Click Start Recording
It's in the upper-left corner of the sidebar. The process of burning the music to the CD begins.
