This article will show you how to unlock iPad Mini if you forgot your password. Unfortunately, this will require erasing the data stored on the iPad and then restoring the information from the iTunes backup. If you've never backed up your iPad to iTunes or iCloud, turn on iPad's recovery mode to do so.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: iTunes

Step 1. Connect iPad to your computer
Connect one end of the iPad charging cable to a USB port on your computer and the other to your iPad.

Step 2. Launch iTunes
Click on the multi-colored musical note icon.
- If a message appears stating that iTunes can be updated, click Download iTunes and wait for iTunes to update. The computer may need to be restarted.
- If iTunes asks for a passcode, turn on recovery mode to delete data from iPad.

Step 3. Click on the icon of the connected iPad
It's in the upper left of the window. The iPad page will open.
If this is your first time connecting iPad to iTunes, you may need to click Trust iPad on your computer and Trust Computer on your iPad

Step 4. Click Back Up Now
You will find this button in the "Backups" section. The iPad will be backed up to your computer; it will take a few minutes.
If prompted, first click Transfer Purchases to copy your purchased songs, videos and / or apps to your computer

Step 5. Click on Restore iPad
You will find this option in the upper right corner of the iPad page.
If you are prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, turn on Recovery Mode to delete data from iPad

Step 6. Click on Restore when prompted
iPad will be restored to factory condition.
If the Restore and Update option appears instead of the Restore option, click Next> Agree

Step 7. Wait for the recovery to complete
This will take about 30 minutes.
During recovery, do not disconnect iPad from the computer or turn off the computer

Step 8. Follow the instructions on the Applications & Data page
Select your backup here.
Please select your language, country and wireless network before accessing this page

Step 9. Click Recover from iTunes Copy
You will find this option at the top of the Applications & Data page.
If you have an iCloud backup, select the "Recover from iCloud Backup" option

Step 10. Enter your Apple ID credentials
Enter your Apple ID email address and password, and then click Next to start the restore process. When the process is complete, press the Home button to unlock your iPad and then set a new password (if you like).
When you unlock your iPad, disconnect it from your computer
Method 2 of 2: Recovery Mode

Step 1. Connect iPad to your computer
Connect one end of the iPad charging cable to a USB port on your computer and the other to your iPad.

Step 2. Launch iTunes
Click on the multi-colored musical note icon.
If a message appears stating that iTunes can be updated, click Download iTunes and wait for iTunes to update. The computer may need to be restarted

Step 3. Activate recovery mode on iPad
Press and hold the Home and Sleep / Wake buttons at the same time. Release the buttons when the charger cable icon and the iTunes logo appear on the screen.

Step 4. Click on Restore when prompted
You will find this option on the right side of the pop-up window that opens in iTunes.

Step 5. Wait for iPad to recover

Select your backup here.
