Learn how to turn off wireless communications with nearby Apple devices. AirDrop uses Bluetooth on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to create a direct Wi-Fi connection.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On an iPhone or iPad

Step 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Control Center

Step 2. Tap the AirDrop button
to the right of the central part of the Control Center.
- One of the following states will be displayed under the word "AirDrop":
- Switch off;
- For contacts only;
- For all.

Step 3. Tap Disable to disable
AirDrop. Until you turn it back on, your device won't take photos or other data via AirDrop.
Method 2 of 2: On Mac

Step 1. Open the Finder menu by clicking on the blue and white smiling face icon in the Dock
A Finder window will open on your desktop.

Step 2. Click on AirDrop under Favorites in the toolbar on the left side of the Finder window

Step 3. Click on "Allow My Discovery" at the bottom of the AirDrop window to display the drop-down menu
