Method 1 of 2: How to view the contents of an archive
Step 1. Launch the Files application
It's a blue folder-shaped icon on the home screen.
This method will help you view the contents, but not unpack the archive
Step 2. Go to the archive folder
The file extension is ".zip".
Step 3. Tap the ZIP file
Its size and the number of files stored in it will be displayed.
Step 4. Click View Content
It's at the bottom of the screen. A preview window of the first archive file will open.
Step 5. View images
They are snapshots of the files that are in the archive.
Method 2 of 2: How to unpack the archive
Step 1. Install the iZip app from the App Store
With this free application, you can unpack a ZIP file, which means that the contents of the archive can be edited and transferred to other users. To install the app:
- Open up

Iphoneappstoreicon - Click Search.
- Enter izip in the search bar.
- Tap "iZip - Zip Unzip Unrar Tool". It's a yellow folder with a lightning bolt.
- Click Download.
- Tap Install.
- When the application is installed, “Open” appears instead of “Download”.
Step 2. Start the "Files" application
It's a blue folder-shaped icon on the home screen.
Step 3. Go to the archive folder
With the free version of iZip, you can unpack the archive stored on your iPhone / iPad. To unzip a zip file that's on a cloud storage like Dropbox, you'll have to buy the paid version.
Step 4. Press and hold the ZIP file
A black menu bar will appear.
Step 5. Tap Share
The sharing menu will open.
Step 6. Click Save to Files
Several options will be displayed.
Step 7. Tap the arrow next to On My iPhone
The iZip folder will appear.
If the iZip folder is already displayed, you do not need to click on the arrow
Step 8. Select the iZip folder
It will be highlighted.
Step 9. Tap Add
It's in the upper right corner. The selected archive will become available in iZip.
Step 10. Go to the main screen of the device and launch iZip
Click on the icon that looks like a yellow folder with a lightning bolt.
Step 11. Tap Files
It's at the top of the screen. A list of files saved in iZip will open.
Step 12. Tap the ZIP file you want to unzip
A pop-up window will appear.
Step 13. Click OK
The zip file will be unpacked to the current folder.
Step 14. Click on the extracted file to open it
You will be prompted to choose an action, such as open the file in a specific application or share the file with others.
