This article will show you how to connect iPad to TV to play videos from iPad. This can be done with AirPlay and an Apple TV, with an HDMI cable and adapter, or with a dedicated app and Smart TV.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using Apple TV

Step 1. Make sure you have the right hardware
To use AirPlay, you need an iPad 2 or later, and a second-generation Apple TV or later. iPad and Apple TV must be on the same wireless network.
We recommend that you update your iPad software for the best streaming video experience

Step 8. Tap the AirPlay icon
It looks like a triangle with a series of concentric circles. The AirPlay menu will open.

Step 9. Select the name of Apple TV
The iPad video signal will go to the Apple TV (not the iPad screen).
If the Apple TV name doesn't appear in the AirPlay menu, make sure iPad is connected to the same wireless network as the TV

Step 10. Try to duplicate the iPad screen
If AirPlay doesn't work even though the devices are on the same wireless network, try the following.
- go to the video you want to watch;
- swipe up from the bottom of the screen;
- click "Screen Repeat";
- select the name Apple TV;
- enter the code to the TV on the iPad (if required).

Step 11. Enjoy watching the movie
To turn off the movie, click the AirPlay icon (or the Screen Repeat icon) or disconnect your iPad from the wireless network.
Method 2 of 3: Using an adapter

Step 1. Buy an HDMI to iPad adapter
Apple sells a digital AV adapter that plugs into the iPad's charging jack for RUB 4,090. (The HDMI cable connects to the adapter and the HDMI connector on the TV.)
- If you don't have an HDMI cable, buy one.
- If your TV does not have an HDMI jack, buy an HDMI to RCA adapter.

Step 2. Connect the adapter to iPad
Connect the small end of the adapter cable to the iPad's charging port.

Step 3. Connect the adapter to your TV
Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the adapter and the other to the HDMI jack on the back or side of the TV.
If your TV does not have an HDMI jack and you are using an HDMI to RCA adapter, connect that adapter to the HDMI cable and to a power source, and then connect the red, yellow and white cables from the HDMI to RCA adapter to the A / V jack on the back of the TV …

Step 4. Turn on your TV
Press the TV power button

Step 5. Tune the TV to the video signal from the iPad
On the TV remote, press the Input or Video button until the iPad picture appears on the TV screen.
The video source number can be found on the back or side of the TV near the connector to which the cable from the iPad is connected

Step 6. Watch the video
Everything displayed on the iPad screen will be displayed on the TV screen. On iPad, find the video you want and play it - it will appear on the TV screen.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Smart TV App

Step 1. Connect your Smart TV to your local network
To play videos from an iPad, the TV must have a Smart TV function and be connected to a local (home) network.
The process for connecting your TV to the network varies by model. For more information, see the instructions (on paper or online) for the TV

Step 2. Install the video streaming app on your iPad
With this application, iPad can be connected to a TV with Smart TV function (if both devices are connected to the same local network). One of the most popular apps is iMediaShare.
The free version of this app will allow you to transfer images and videos that you already have on your iPad. To enjoy the advanced streaming features, you need the paid version of the app

Step 3. Run the application
The iPad content will be loaded into it. You can select any image or video stored on iPad.

Step 4. Select a video
Click on the video - a list of devices that are connected to the local network will open.

Step 5. Select a TV with Smart TV function
To do this, tap it in the list.
If your TV is not listed, tap Others and follow the instructions to find your TV

Step 6. Watch the video
When you select your TV from the list of connected devices, the video starts playing on the TV screen. You can control playback using the iPad app.
