Do you have a stunning photo that you can't use in any way because of the text on it? In this case, you should know that Photoshop has an excellent set of tools with which you can remove text. You don't need the skills of a professional graphic designer to do this. When it comes to image editing, Photoshop comes in handy - a fairly easy-to-use program, even for inexperienced users.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Removing text using the rasterization function
Step 1. Understand that images are made up of different, separate layers that include different colors, effects, graphics, and text
All of these layers make up the final image in Photoshop. They not only serve as the source for the final JPEG file, but also provide the final PSD file. If that doesn't tell you anything, then be aware that PSD is an abbreviation for the Photoshop document format.
Different layers of the image can be made visible or invisible. They can also be rasterized to remove specific segments of a layer. When rasterized, the image is converted into graphics that are easy to manipulate as you see fit
Step 2. Launch Photoshop from the start menu of your operating system programs
In the program interface that opens, select the "File" item in the main menu. Select the "Open" command from the expanded list of submenu. Find and open the required image through the opened program window.
Step 3. Press the keyboard shortcut "Command + J" (for macOS) or "Ctrl + J" (for Windows) to create a copy of the image first
This must be done so that the changes you make do not affect the original image. If you look at the Layers panel, you will notice that your image now has two layers. The original is safely placed on a layer called "Background", and you will be working with a copy called "Layer 1" that sits on top of it.
Step 4. Give the copy of the image a different name
It is a good idea to change the name of the copy of the image. Otherwise, you can easily confuse it with the original. So that you can easily figure out the layers of the image, for the copy you can leave the old name of the layer, but add the phrase "WITH REMOVED TEXT" to it at the end in capital letters.
To do this, right-click on Layer 1. You will be able to rename the layer. Enter a new name. Press the Return (macOS) or Enter (Windows) button to save your changes
Step 5. On the right side of the interface on the toolbar, select the "Layers" shortcut
Inside the toolbar window, right-click on the desired layer and select the "Rasterize" item from the context menu. Select the Lasso tool from the toolbar options. Then select the part of the image you want to remove. Click the "Delete" button. In the program menu, click the "File" item and select "Save" to save the changes made.
- Of all Photoshop's tools, the Lasso tool is probably the easiest to understand how to work with it. When this tool is selected, the mouse cursor is converted into a miniature lasso image, and you need to click it on the side of the text you want to delete. Continue to hold down the mouse button and drag your cursor around the text. When everything is ready, click the "Delete" button to delete the text.
- For a better understanding of working with layers, you can imagine them as superimposed images. For example, suppose you have a piece of paper that you have painted over in red. Then you took a sheet of transparency, drew a yellow circle on it, and superimposed it on a piece of paper. Now you take another sheet of tape, write blue text on it, and place it on top of the yellow circle. You end up with a red background with two layers (yellow and blue). Each element has its own layer. This is exactly the principle applied in Photoshop layers. In fact, all the layers together make up the final version of the image.
Method 2 of 3: Remove text using a Content-Aware Fill
Step 1. Open the image in Photoshop
Press Command + J (macOS) or Ctrl + J (Windows) to create a copy of the image first. This must be done so that the changes you make do not affect the original image. If you look at the Layers panel, you will notice that your image now has two layers. The original is safely placed on a layer called "Background", and you will be working with a copy called "Layer 1" that sits on top of it.
Step 2. Give the copy of the image a different name
It is a good idea to change the name of the copy of the image. Otherwise, you can easily confuse it with the original. So that you can easily figure out the layers of the image, for the copy you can leave the old name of the layer, but add the phrase "WITH REMOVED TEXT" to it at the end in capital letters.

Step 3. Select the Lasso tool from the toolbar on the left side of the screen
Click next to the text. Draw a lasso around the text. Be sure to leave a small amount of indentation from the text when you stroke. This will allow Photoshop to better blend the tones of the colors to fill the area with the deleted text.
Step 4. Press the "Edit" menu button and select the "Fill" item in the opened submenu
Alternatively, you can simply press the key combination "Shift + F5". A window with the name "Fill" will appear on the screen. Select Content-Aware from the drop-down list under Use. Click OK. Wait for Photoshop to fill in the space left after deleting the text.
Step 5. Press the shortcut keys "CTRL + D" to deselect the image when the fill is complete
This will give you a better view of the result. Save the edited image. Once you are comfortable using this tool, it shouldn't take you more than a few seconds to remove text from images in the future.
Method 3 of 3: Deleting text using the Clone Stamp tool
Step 1. Open the image in Photoshop

If you look at the Layers panel, you will notice that your image now has two layers. The original is safely placed on a layer called "Background", and you will be working with a copy called "Layer 1" that sits on top of it.

Step 3. On the toolbar, select the Clone Stamp tool
Alternatively, you can press the key combination "CTRL + S". Select a round brush with soft contours and set its hardness between 10-30% (this setting is suitable in most cases). Start by setting the Opacity to 95%. You can make changes to the settings later if necessary.
Step 4. Click on the "Layers" panel
Select the original layer in the panel. Drag this layer onto the Create New Layer button, which is displayed as an icon to the left of the Trash Can. Alternatively, you can press CTRL + J to create a new layer.
Step 5. Move the mouse cursor over a point close enough to the text
Hold down the "Alt" key and then left-click on the selected location. This place will be called the source. In fact, paint colors will be taken from this place to paint over the text.
Step 6. Be careful not to select the source too close to the text, as it will get mixed up as you move the brush over the text
If you set the source too close to the text, you will copy the parts of the image that you want to delete. If the source is too far away, the background color may not be suitable for masking the area with letters to be deleted. In this case, the image will be noticeably distorted.
Step 7. Go to the settings menu and enable the "Alignment" option
This action allows you to select the current point as a permanent copy source. When you stop painting, be sure to turn off the align option before starting over. Re-enable this option after selecting a new copy source point.
Step 8. Release the "Alt" key and move the mouse cursor to the place with the text that you want to retouch
Right-click to start painting over the text with the portion of the image copied from the source. Pay attention to the background lighting in the image. Make sure the area you are painting and the clone source are illuminated in the same direction.
Step 9. Paint over the text in small areas
You shouldn't cover the lettering with one long stroke. This will make your work look professional and not shameful. Keep working until you get the desired result.
Advice
- Set aside enough time for this job, especially if you are inexperienced or if you decide to use the Clone Stamp tool. If the text takes up a lot of space, deleting it invisibly will take a lot of your time.
- In a file with multiple layers of an image, such as a PSD or PDF, text can be laid out on a separate layer above the background image. In the right part of the window in the Layers panel, right-click on the Text Layers label. Then select "Remove Layer" and click "Yes" to confirm the action.
