InDesign is a popular software application released by Adobe. It is often used by graphic designers to publish books, magazines, and brochures. Along with important elements such as text, graphics and logos, page numbers are essential for these publications. If you know how to do this, you can add page numbers during or after you complete your document. This article will walk you through how to add page numbers in InDesign.
Steps

Step 1. Open Adobe InDesign and then open a document

Step 2. Click on the Pages panel
When the dialog box appears, you should see all of your pages that the document contains.

Step 3. Click on the first master page where the page number will begin
The first page on the list may have a cover that is often unnumbered.

Step 4. Use the "Zoom" function to zoom the image to the lower left corner of the first page you want to number
You can also zoom to the lower right corner if you are using the right page as your first numbered page. Most people start numbering in the lower left corner.

Step 5. Click on the "Type" tool
It's an uppercase "T" on the left side of the panel.

Step 6. Use the tool to create a box in the lower left corner where you want to put the first number
You need to make the window wide enough. InDesign will automatically update the page numbers, and this requires the window to be able to accommodate a row of 1,999 even if your page numbers are small

Step 7. Go to the "Type" menu on your top horizontal bar

Step 8. Select "Insert special character" and an additional menu will appear from it
Scroll down to "Markers". Unlike characters, markers can change based on length or other changes in the document. In the menu that appears to the right of "Markers", select "Current Page Number".
- Hotkeys on Mac operating systems (OS) are pressing Command, Shift, Option, and the letter N at the same time. You should use them if you will be using this application frequently.
- The hotkey on Windows is to press "Control", "Shift", "Alt" and the letter "N" at the same time.
- Your first number will appear as "A" with a symbol next to it because this is the home page. The rest of the page numbers will appear as numbers.

Step 9. Click on the "Paragraph Style" button on the panel to change the appearance of your page numbers in a visual style
When you change the style on the main page "A", it will change all the other pages as well.

Step 10. Use your "Type" tool to drag the window to the position you would like to see on your page if it is not already set

Step 11. Copy the page number window by clicking "Option" and then click on the window and drag it to the right side of the page on Mac OS, or press "alt =" Image "" then click on the window and drag it on Windows OS
This will save you time creating page numbers on the right side of the pages instead of going through the whole process again.

Step 12. Go to the Pages panel to check if your numbers appear on all pages
Click left and right. They must appear in order.
