VLC Media Player is one of the best media content players for both Windows and Mac with Linux. It can reproduce almost all formats, it is easy to work with - and even for those who are “like you” with a computer, it has a simple interface and … and it sometimes gets boring. To change the skin (skin) of the player, you will need this article!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Finding the Skin You Need

Step 1. Search the Web for skins for VLC Media Player
You will find quite a few sites where you can download them. Many people make skins themselves and post them on the Web.

Step 2. Download the skin directly from the VLC Media Player website
So you can be sure that you downloaded not a virus, but a skin, and specifically for VLC Media Player.
- Save the skin where it will be easy to find later - say, on your desktop.
- The file extension of such skins is.vlt, so it will be easy to understand whether you downloaded the file.
Part 2 of 2: Using the Right Skin

Step 1. Open VLC Media Player
After starting the program, pay attention to the menu at the top.

Step 2. Open the Tools menu
By clicking on the word Tool, a list of corresponding options will appear.

Step 3. Select Peference
The corresponding window will open
Alternatively, just press Ctrl + P

Step 4. In the left part of the window, select the Interface option
She usually goes first. If not, look.

Step 5. Find the Look and Feel section
It's at the top of the window, right below the Language section. In this part, you will see two buttons:
- Use Native Style - reset the skin to the default settings.
- Use Custom Skin - the choice of a custom version of the player's design (what you need).

Step 6. Click on the Use Custom Skin button
After clicking, this section will change and you will be able to select a skin.

Step 7. Click on the Choose button
An explorer window will open, where you will need to find the file you downloaded earlier.

Step 8. Select the skin you want to use
After finding and selecting a skin, click Open. This will take you back to the Preferences window.

Step 9. Click Save
This button is at the bottom of the screen.

Step 10. Close VLC and open it again to activate the design changes
Advice
- Be careful, some skins change the location of the menu and confuse the hotkey settings, which can make the player more difficult to work with. Choose skins wisely.
- If the skin has changed the location of the menu, do not panic. You can always get to the settings - at least through a right-click, for example. Have a lot of patience and you will find everything!
