How to change the country in iTunes or App Store

Want to save money and make a purchase on the App Store in another country? Maybe you want to know what is popular on iTunes in a neighboring state? But Apple completely allows you to change the country both in iTunes and in the App Store … provided, of course, that you are registered in that country. However, if you do not live in country x, but specify it as your country in iTunes and the App Store, you will be able to view products in those stores, but you will not be able to buy them.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Change Countries via iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Step 1. Open iTunes in the App Store of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Let's make a reservation right away that this method will work only if you have a credit card with the billing address of the country that you want to set instead of your current one. However, even a gift certificate from that country will do.

Step 2. Go to home page or favorites page, click on Apple ID

If you are not logged in yet, click on the Sign In button and enter your credentials.

Step 3. Next, click on the View Apple ID or View Account button

Step 4. Then, respectively, on the Country / Region button

Step 5. After that, go to the Change Country or Region button

Step 6. Select a country from the list

Remember, you need an unexpired credit card with a billing address in the country you want to bounce in lieu of your current country. After selecting your country, click Next.

Step 7. Read and agree to the terms of service

Step 8. Enter your credit card details

Please note that the billing address must match the country you selected!

Step 9. Done

You can now both browse and buy songs and apps from your new iTunes or App Store.

Method 2 of 4: Change Country from Mac or PC

Step 1. Log in to iTunes or App Store with your Apple ID

If, when iTunes or the App Store opens, it suddenly turns out that you have not logged in yet, just click on the Sign in button and enter your authorization data.

Contrary to popular belief, changing the checkboxes at the bottom of the Favorites page does not change your country details. This will, of course, allow you to view popular songs in the country of your choice (see method 3), but you will automatically be logged out of your account. Purchases, respectively, you will not be able to do

Step 2. After logging in, click on the Account button in the menu on the right

You may need to re-enter your Apple ID.

Step 3. Click on the Change Country or Region link found in your profile

Step 4. Select a country

Let's make a reservation right away that this method will work only if you have a credit card with the billing address of the country that you want to expose instead of your current one. However, even a gift certificate from that country will do. The third, alas, is not given. After selecting the country, click on the Change button.

Step 5. Click on the Continue button, then you will be taken to the “Welcome to the iTunes Store” page

Step 6. Read and agree to the terms of service

Do not forget to check the box next to the corresponding item, then click the Agree button.

Step 7. Select a payment method

If you have a credit card, please enter its details. However, the data of the gift certificate will also work.

Step 8. Enter the billing address of your local credit card

Then click on the Continue button.

Method 3 of 4: Browse iTunes or App Stores by Country

Step 1. Open iTunes and scroll to the very bottom of the page

Click on the checkbox in the lower right corner. The flag should look the same as the flag of the country you are currently in.

Step 2. Scroll through the list of flags to find the flag of the country whose regional Apple Stores you want to view

Next, you will be taken to the home page of those countries' iTunes or AppStore and will be able to browse the contents of those stores, although you will not be able to buy anything.

Method 4 of 4: Troubleshooting

Step 1. An active iTunes Match subscription

Please note that iTunes will not allow you to change country or region if you have an active subscription to Match, which stores all of your music in iCloud. Cancel your subscription or wait until it expires to be able to change your country. To cancel your iTunes Match subscription,

1. Open iTunes and click on the App Store link in the menu at the top.
2. Click on the Sign in button, enter your authorization data.
3. Click on Store, then View My Account.
4. Go to the "iTunes in the Cloud" section, then click on the "Turn Off Auto-Renew" item next to iTunes Match.

   Step 2. Season Pass and Multi-pass options

   If you have such options, you must first complete them, only after that you can change the country. How do I complete them? Either watch all episodes of the movie or TV series with which they are associated, or wait for their expiration date.

   

   Step 3. Active lease

   Wait at least 30 days without renewing the rental of the movie or other content, then you can change the country.

   

   Step 4. Balance

   To change the country, you need to bring your iTunes or AppStore balance to zero. If you do not have enough money to buy something, then attach a credit card to your account and buy something that is slightly more expensive than the amount on your account balance. The missing difference will be debited from the credit card, the rest will be covered by the amount on the account balance. With zero on your balance sheet, you can change the country without any problems.

   

   Step 5. Incomplete refund

   Wait a few hours for your refund to complete, then try again. Refunds are usually processed in just a few hours.

   

   Step 6. Learn to recover Apple ID data and, accordingly, password

   If you can't change countries precisely because you forgot your Apple ID or password, look for tips on how to recover them.

   

   Step 7. Update to the latest version of iTunes if all else fails

   This remains the last option that we can offer you, if everything has already been tried, and the result is not to be seen.
