In this article, we'll show you how to select odd or even rows in the computer version of Google Sheets using a custom formula.
Steps

Step 1. Open Google Sheets in your computer's web browser
In the address bar of your browser, type sheet.google.com, and then press the ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return key.

Step 2. Click on the required table
In the list of your files, find the table you want and click on it to open it.

Step 3. Open the Format menu
You will find it in the menu bar under the file name in the upper left corner of the table.

Step 4. From the menu, select Conditional Formatting
A formatting bar appears on the right.

Step 5. Click on the line in the "Apply to Range" section
You will find it at the top of the right pane. Now you can select the range whose rows will be highlighted.

Step 6. Select the range in which you want to highlight the rows
To do this, click on the first cell, hold the left mouse button and move the pointer over the required cells.
When you select the cells, the Select Range window opens, displaying the selected range of cells

Step 7. Click OK on the window to confirm your choice

Step 8. Open the menu in the "Format cells" section
You will find it in the middle of the right pane. Formatting options will open.

Step 9. Scroll down and select Your Formula
Now you can enter the formula.

Step 10. Click on the Value or Formula line in the right pane
In this line you need to enter a certain formula.

Step 11. Enter = EVEN (STRING ())
All even lines within the selected range will be highlighted.
- To select odd lines, enter the formula = EVEN (ROW ()).
- Line numbers are located to the left of the table.

Step 12. Open the menu in the "Format" section
This menu displays the Default option with a green background. In the menu that opens, you can select a different color with which the lines will be highlighted.

Step 13. Choose a highlight color
To do this, simply click on the desired color - the selected lines will be highlighted with it.

Step 14. Click Finish
You will find this blue button at the bottom of the right pane. The changes made will be saved.
