PowerPoint is a great program that lets you create a presentation by including text and images. You can save time and simply convert Word documents to PowerPoint presentations.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Convert Word documents

Step 1. Open your document in Microsoft Word
To do this, click "File" - "Open". Any document can be converted to PowerPoint, but you have to copy and paste the images manually.

Step 2. Divide the document into “slides” using headings
Before each paragraph or sentence that you want to start a slide with, insert a slide title, such as First Quarter Data.
The title is displayed in large type at the top of each slide

Step 3. Go to the Home tab (in Word) and find the Styles group, which provides formatting styles (Normal, No Spacing, Heading 1, and so on)

Step 4. Highlight the headings and click "Heading 1"
The title text appears in a large blue font to help PowerPoint identify the slide titles.

Step 5. Break the text into blocks by placing the cursor in the appropriate places and pressing Enter
Now select the text and click Heading 2 (in the Styles group). The text will appear in blue, and the slides will present the text blocks in a bulleted list.
Bulleted lists will only be generated if the text is formatted in the Heading 2 style

Step 6. If you want to add a sublist to the bulleted list, select the appropriate blocks of text and click "Heading 3"
The list and sublist on the slide will look like this:
- Heading 2 style text.
Heading 3 style text

Step 7. Press Enter before each new heading
This will create an outline for PowerPoint. The text displayed in large blue font is the slide title, and the text displayed in regular blue font is the slide text. If you insert a line break, PowerPoint creates a new slide.

Step 8. After creating the outline, you can change the size, color and font style of the text
Now the text may not be blue and bold - it is already encoded for conversion to PowerPoint.
- At this stage, you will no longer be able to remove line breaks or insert new text.
- Don't forget to save the document!

Step 9. Convert your document to PowerPoint by clicking File - Send to PowerPoint
If you don't see the Send to PowerPoint button:
- Click "File" - "Options".
- Click "Quick Access Toolbar".
- On the Select Commands menu, click All Commands.
- In the list that opens, select "Send to Powerpoint" and click "Add >>".
- Click OK (in the lower right corner). A small button will appear in the upper left corner of Word, allowing you to convert your document to PowerPoint.

Step 10. Format your presentation in PowerPoint, for example, add animation, sounds or images
Word does not automatically convert images - you have to manually insert them into PowerPoint
Method 2 of 3: Create a PowerPoint Presentation in Word

Step 1. Here you should work in the "Structure" document view mode
In this mode, any text you enter is automatically converted to the titles and text of your PowerPoint slides.
Word does not automatically convert images - you have to manually insert them into PowerPoint

Step 2. In Word, create a new document
To do this, click "File" - "New" (or press Ctrl + N).

Step 3. Go to the "View" tab and in the "Document View Mode" group select "Outline"
You will switch to the "Structure" document view.
The screen will display a large blank white "sheet" with a toolbar above it

Step 4. Enter the title of the first slide and press "Enter"
The text appears in large, dark blue to indicate the title of the slide.

Step 5. Press Tab and enter a block of text
Press Enter to move to a new line and enter the next block of text. Such blocks of text in PowerPoint will be converted to a bulleted list.
- If you press Tab twice, you create a sublist, that is:
This is a sublist

Step 6. After you have entered the text of the first slide, press Enter
In the upper left corner, in the Outline Tools group, on the Show Level menu, select Level 1 to enter a title for the next slide.
You can also drag the text behind the small gray circle (to the left of the text). If you drag the circle all the way to the left, the text turns into a title

Step 7. Change the levels to format your slides
You can click on a line and change its "level" at any time. Levels are converted to PowerPoint as follows:
- “Level 1” is the title of the slide.
- "Level 2" - Slide text (bulleted list).
- "Level 3" (and beyond) - sublists.
- Body Text - Does not appear in PowerPoint.

Step 8. Convert the document to PowerPoint by clicking File - Send to PowerPoint
If you don't see the Send to PowerPoint button:
- Click "File" - "Options".
- Click "Quick Access Toolbar".
- On the Select Commands menu, click All Commands.
- In the list that opens, select "Send to Powerpoint" and click "Add >>".

Step 9. Click OK (in the lower right corner)
A small button will appear in the upper left corner of Word, allowing you to convert your document to PowerPoint.

Step 10. You can also open a document (created in "Outline" mode) directly in PowerPoint to automatically convert it to a presentation
To do this, in PowerPoint, click "File" - "Open". From the Save as type menu, choose All Files. Find and open a Word document to automatically convert it to PowerPoint.

Step 11. Format your presentation in PowerPoint, for example, add animation, sounds or images
Word does not automatically convert images - you have to manually insert them into PowerPoint
Method 3 of 3: Troubleshoot problems

Step 1. Split slides without titles
To do this, simply press Enter to create a blank line above the slide text. Press the spacebar once, and then select this empty line with the mouse. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Heading 1. This is useful when slides do not have titles, or if you want to create a blank slide to place images on it.
In Outline view, highlight blank lines and press Level 1, then press Enter

Step 2. Check the created structure before converting it to a presentation
Click the View tab (in Word) and in the Document View Mode group, select Outline. This will not change the document, but it will allow you to review it for errors. Levels are converted in PowerPoint as follows (you can change levels using the green arrows in the upper left corner):
- “Level 1” is the title of the slide.
- "Level 2" - Slide text (bulleted list).
- "Level 3" (and beyond) - sublists.
- Body Text - Does not appear in PowerPoint.

Step 3. Add slides from Word to an existing presentation
Position the cursor where you want to insert slides from Word, click New Slide, and select New Slide From Outline.
- To position the slides where you want them, click on the slide that should immediately follow the slides you want to insert.
- PowerPoint will automatically create slides from your Word document in the correct order.

Step 4. You can open any Word document directly in PowerPoint if you don't want to convert the document to presentation
This will allow PowerPoint to link to the Word document without the need for any conversion. When showing a presentation, simply click on the link to open the document. After closing the document, the presentation will resume from the transition point in Word.
- Right click on the text or image that you want to link to your Word document.
- Select the "Hyperlink" option.
- Select a document and click OK.
- You can now click on the image or text to open your Word document.

Step 5. Copying images
Word does not automatically convert images - you have to manually insert them into PowerPoint. To do this, right-click on the picture in Word and select "Copy". Then open the desired slide, right-click on it and select "Paste." You can move, resize and crop images directly in PowerPoint.
You can also use the Insert button in PowerPoint to find and insert images stored on your computer

Step 6. Download the latest version of Microsoft Office
If you are unable to convert your documents despite correct formatting, then you have an old version of Microsoft Office. Download the latest version from the Microsoft website.
