If you are looking for a simple, inexpensive and natural remedy for artificial tanning, then coffee may be just the thing for you. Coffee is a great budget solution for getting tanned without the use of harsh chemicals. You can use coffee to give your skin a tanned look: make a coffee suntan lotion, mix ground coffee and olive oil, or brew coffee grounds.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Prepare a coffee suntan lotion

Step 1. Pour 250 ml of water into a regular coffee maker
It will take about a cup of very strong coffee to make a coffee suntan lotion, so add the appropriate amount of water. If you brew a whole pot, the coffee will not turn out quite strong, because a standard coffee maker does not have enough space to hold all the coffee needed to make a very strong drink of this volume.
If you usually use a different method of making coffee, such as a French press, you can use that as well, provided that you use just enough ground coffee to make a very strong coffee

Step 2. Pour 6 tablespoons (30 g) of coffee into the coffee filter
You can take even more coffee if you want to make a stronger brew. The stronger the coffee, the richer the color will be.
- Choose a caffeinated variety, and then the lotion can reduce the appearance of cellulite on the skin.
- You can use medium or dark roasted beans. However, darker roasting of the beans will create a darker tan.
- If you don't want to measure your coffee accurately, add enough coffee to brew a whole pot of coffee into the filter, but add water for one cup.

Step 3. Brew coffee
Switch on the coffee maker to start the coffee preparation process. When the water stops dripping, turn off the coffee maker so that the plate under the coffee pot stops heating it. Wait for the coffee to cool before making the lotion.

Step 4. Let the coffee cool down
When the coffee has cooled to room temperature, you can start making the lotion. Leave the coffee in the pot until it is mixed with the lotion.

Step 5. Pour 250 ml of white lotion into a large bowl
You can use any type of lotion, the main thing is white. For best results, use a thick lotion as it will be diluted with the coffee.
If you take a lotion with natural ingredients, then the resulting coffee lotion will be a good substitute for your regular store-bought self-tanner, while no chemicals

Step 6. Stir coffee into lotion
Pour coffee into a bowl and stir. Continue stirring until the color of the lotion is uniform. The color should turn dark beige or light brown, depending on the strength of the coffee.

Step 7. Transfer the coffee suntan lotion to the storage jar
A good option would be the jar that sold the lotion, glass jar, or food storage container. For easier handling, choose a container with a graduated scale that allows you to easily dispense the lotion.
- Make sure the container is clean.
- If you do not have a container that would fit the entire volume, then you can divide the lotion into several small ones.

Step 8. Rub the lotion into the skin
Use the lotion in the same way as a self-tanner or body lotion. Allow the lotion to fully absorb and dry before you start dressing. The sunburn will be visible on the skin immediately.
- Wash your hands quickly after using the lotion to avoid darkening the rest of your body. As hands are in contact with the lotion for longer, they may become more stained.
- Sunburn can be washed off the next time you shower or swim.

Step 9. Use coffee suntan lotion daily
To maintain your tan, you need to use lotion every day after showering.
- You can store the lotion in the bathroom if it is quickly consumed. If you're worried about shelf life, keep the lotion in the refrigerator.
- If you don't like the color, you can change the amount of coffee for the next dose of coffee lotion.
Method 2 of 3: Mix ground coffee and olive oil

Step 1. Measure out 1 cup (250 ml) of used coffee grounds
For best results, use fresh coffee grounds that are still hot after brewing.

Step 2. Add coffee grounds to 1 cup (250 ml) olive oil
Whisk both ingredients in a bowl.
You can change the recipe to get more or less tanning oil. Just use equal parts coffee grounds and olive oil

Step 3. Leave the mixture for 5 minutes
Coffee takes time to tint the oil. While you wait, you can prepare to apply the oil: prepare the bathroom for a shower after your procedure.

Step 4. Get into the shower
Take a shower, but don't turn on the water. When applying coffee oil, coffee and oil particles will fall into the bath.
- You can also place paper or plastic trash bags on the floor.
- Wash the tub after the procedure.

Step 5. Massage the mixture into the skin in circular massaging movements
Set a timer for 5 minutes and continuously rub oil and coffee into your skin. If you have cellulite, concentrate on the problem areas, as caffeine can smooth out the appearance of cellulite.
It is best to wear gloves when applying the mixture to avoid stains on your hands

Step 6. Leave the mixture on the skin for 10 minutes
Stay in the shower while the tanning oil stains your skin. Do not go out or walk in the bathroom, or you could stain items, including your bathroom rug and towels, by accidentally touching them.

Step 7. Rinse off the mixture
Take a warm shower to rinse off the tanning oil. Make sure to rinse the coffee off the most difficult to reach areas, including the armpits and crotch.
Do not shave your legs or use a scrub after applying coffee oil to avoid rubbing off your tan

Step 8. Repeat twice a week
If you want to keep your tan, you will need to repeat the procedure twice a week.
Make a fresh dose of tanning oil before each application
Method 3 of 3: Boil the coffee grounds

Step 1. Transfer 1 cup (250 ml) coffee grounds to a medium saucepan
For best results, use coffee grounds from freshly brewed coffee. The pot should be large enough to hold 2 cups (500 ml) of anything, but not too much or all the water used will evaporate.

Step 2. Add 1 cup (250 ml) water
Stir the contents of the pot to combine the water and coffee. This will make the color more intense and prevent the coffee lumps from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
To make more mixture, simply increase the amount of coffee grounds and water in equal parts

Step 3. Boil the coffee grounds
Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for about two minutes. If the water is boiled for too long, it will evaporate.

Step 4. Let cool
Set aside the coffee and water mixture until it cools down to room temperature.
DO NOT rush to apply the product to the body. If it gets too hot, it can burn you

Step 5. Rub the cooled coffee and water mixture into your skin
Massage both water and coffee grounds into your skin in a circular motion. Finally, all the coffee grounds should be spread over the skin.
It is best to wear gloves when applying the mixture to avoid stains on your hands

Step 6. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes to set the tan
The coffee takes time to penetrate the skin, so set a timer. Try not to move to keep the coffee on your skin.

Step 7. Rinse off the coffee grounds
Do not cleanse your skin or shave, or you may accidentally remove a new tan. Dry gently with a towel when finished.
