In order for basketball players to develop successful offensive skills, they need to develop good habits. At the same time, they should avoid following bad habits. While this sounds simple enough, many players cannot break their many habits on the basketball court. Bad habits develop in the same way as good ones - through repetition. A key challenge for coaches, players and even parents is to practice good habits and eliminate bad ones. This happens both during the game season and during the pre-season preparation.
Steps

Step 1. Avoid playing alone, focusing on the team aspect
Those who like to play alone harm the overall result of the team more than they benefit.

Step 2. Be part of the team instead of just running around and watching the action
Players must not be spectators of the game. Players should always take part in the game, even if they are not currently in possession of the ball.

Step 3. Look for passing opportunities instead of shooting opportunities
Players should always be mindful of their teammates. If your teammate is open and has a better opportunity to put the ball into the basket, then give the ball to him.

Step 4. Consider several options for the development of the game, which will complicate the life of the opponent's defense
Players should look for many opportunities to score. If the first option leads to a good chance of earning points, then a pass must be made. Otherwise, players need to look for other options.

Step 5. Make reasonable passes
Standard passes are easy to read by defenders, so players should use their eyes, head and feints before making a pass.

Step 6. Don't get excited - don't demean yourself to cheap violations after making a stupid mistake
Each of us makes mistakes when playing basketball. When this happens offensively, the players should rush back into defense and have a good play on the defensive. Avoid self-dissatisfaction fouls.

Step 7. Familiarize yourself with the abilities of your teammates
Don't do feints and intricate passes that your teammates aren't familiar with. You need to play within the framework of your technique during official games, and master tricks and feints in training.

Step 8. Pay attention to how much play and attack time you have at your disposal
During each attack, you need to know how much time you have in order to throw the ball into the basket. Also, remember how long you have left to play in the quarter, half, and the whole game. Every player must remember the time, not just the referee and the coach.

Step 9. Maintain concentration throughout each attack
Players should always be careful when playing basketball. You should be mindful of your personal goal of the game and help your teammates.

Step 10. Do not play at the same speed for the entire match, otherwise the defenders will always know how fast you will run or make a decision
Advice
- Always look for weaknesses in your game. If you are bad with dribbling, then practice dribbling, if you have problems with passing, then work on this element. Do not practice just one jump shot, if you already know how to do it, strive to be a versatile player, improving your game every day.
- Take your training and preparation seriously. Make them realistic. Everyone can jump up and throw the ball into the basket, so get obstacles so that everything was like real.
- Practice game elements on your own and with your friends, but always give your best. If you are not diligent in training, then you will not be able to score in real play.
- If you are playing in an official match and you are tired, then inform the coach about it. If you don’t do this, then you will most likely not run as fast, which will create cracks in the defense and the opposing team will score more often.
