We've all had to deal with annoying nail fungus at some point. But before you cover the affected nails with false nails and forget about them, consider the fact that this will further aggravate your situation. Fortunately, there is a better, healthier way to hide fungus that won't stop you from enjoying your day off by the pool.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Antifungal nail polish

Step 1. Trim your nails
Keep your nails trimmed and clean. Cut your nails short to prevent fungus from spreading underneath. Use nail clippers if they get too thick.
Flush the tweezers with rubbing alcohol between uses to prevent the spread of fungus

Step 2. Wash your nails
Wash your nails with soap and water, and take special care to remove dirt and debris from your nails and cuticles.

Step 3. Apply base under the varnish
Using a small brush, spread the base over the entire nail so that it does not become stained and the varnish adheres better. Repeat with each nail.
- In one smooth stroke, brush down the middle of the nail. Do not try to paint over the entire nail with one stroke.
- Then, starting from the same spot, brush downward at an angle to paint over the left side of the nail.
- Repeating the process, place the brush in its original position and paint over the right side of the nail.
- Wait for the base to dry.

Step 4. Apply antifungal nail polish
Starting at the base of the nail, paint with a brush to apply an even coat of polish down the middle of the nail.
- Using the same technique as before, place the brush at the starting point at the base of the nail and stroke downward at an angle to paint over the left side of the nail.
- Return to the starting position again to paint over the right side of the nail. Apply the varnish evenly to prevent dripping.

Step 5. Apply a second coat of varnish
Using the same brushing technique, spread the polish evenly over the nail until the color is richer.
Wait 3-5 minutes for the varnish to dry

Step 6. Apply a finish gel (top coat)
The finish gel will protect the polish and give it a shine. Apply it all the same way. Wait for the coating to dry and try not to smudge the gel while it dries.
Method 2 of 3: Wear breathable shoes

Step 1. Wear moisture-wicking socks
Fungal infections develop in a humid environment. Wearing socks and shoes throughout the day can lead to fungal growth, which is clearly not helpful in clearing the infection. To fix this, wear moisture-wicking socks. They keep your fingers dry, which will help prevent fungal growth.

Step 2. Spray the shoes with antifungal spray
Sweat-soaked sneakers are another favorite place for fungus. Try to change your shoes daily and spray them with antifungal spray regularly. This will prevent the spread of infection and keep your feet dry throughout the day.

Step 3. Try to wear sandals more often
Often the first thought that comes to mind when a fungus appears is to hide it, but the best tactic is to let your fingers breathe. The infection will go away faster if the fingers are kept outdoors for longer.

Step 4. Do not go barefoot in public places
Fungal infections can be spread in public places such as swimming pools and changing rooms. Wear sandals before showering to prevent infection with ringworm or other fungal infections.
Method 3 of 3: Treating the fungus

Step 1. Consult your doctor about treatment
Nail fungus may have symptoms similar to other conditions, such as psoriasis. The doctor will conduct the necessary examinations to determine the cause of the fungus and select the best treatment. Fungal infections can be treated in several ways. Your doctor will decide which treatment is best for you.

Step 2. Take an oral antifungal medication for the most effective treatment
Oral antifungals are often more effective than topical creams. The medicine will allow the new nail to grow without fungus and eventually replace the old nail. This process can take several months (sometimes up to four).
Side effects such as rashes and liver damage can be associated with taking antifungal medications. These medicines are not recommended for people with liver damage or chronic heart failure

Step 3. Use medicated nail polish for a more systematic treatment
Apply this nail polish once a day for a week. At the end of the week, wipe your nails with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol. Complete healing should come within a year.

Step 4. Use topical ointment if you have thin nails
Soak your nails in hot water and then apply a topical ointment to the affected areas. These ointments work better on thin nails.
Apply an over-the-counter urea lotion to the nail to thin it. This will make it easier for the ointment to penetrate the nail, and it will be able to more effectively deal with the fungus

Step 5. Use simple folk remedies
Tea tree oil or coconut oil has anti-fungal properties. Use these simple folk remedies to fight infection.
