The process of adding contacts to Skype is simple and quick, if, of course, you know the basic information about the person you are looking for. You can search by name, email address, or Skype name, but the process is much easier if you search by email address or Skype name. Read on to find out how you can add contacts to Skype on any device.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Part 1: Using Skype for Windows and Mac
Step 1. Click on the "Add contact" button
It is located in the upper left window, the picture of the button is the image of the "+" sign.
Step 2. Find the person you want to add
You can search by name, Skype username, or email address. The person you want to find must be a registered Skype user.
Step 3. Look at the results
You may be given more than one result, especially if you are searching by real name. If you're having trouble finding the person you want to add, ask them to tell you their Skype username or the email address they signed up with.
Step 4. Add the person to your contact list
Once you find the person you want to add, click on his name and then click on the "Add to Contacts" button in the upper right corner. A window will open where you can write a message to the person you want to add. You can write a personal message if you want to.
Step 5. Wait until you are accepted
Before you can see a person's status, they must accept your friendship invitation. As soon as he accepts the invitation, his status picture will change from a question mark.
Step 6. Add many contacts
If you want to add contacts from another program, you can use the "Import Contacts" function. You can import contacts from Facebook, Outlook, or any other mail.
- Click on the "Contacts" menu and select "Import Contacts".
- Select where you want to import from.
- Enter your username and password for that service. Skype says it does not store any passwords.
- Skype will show you all the contacts you added who have a Skype account. To add them all, click on the "Add Contacts" button. If you don't want to add everyone, just uncheck the box next to their name.
- You can send a message to those who do not have a Skype account. Skype will send an email to all users on your list who do not have a Skype account. To skip this step, you can click on the "Skip" button.
- You will not see the status of the added contacts until they accept the invitation.

Step 1. Go up from the Skype program button
If you are using a computer with a mouse, move your mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen. Click on the "Add Contact" button in the lower right corner.
Step 2. Find the person you want to add
You can search by real name, Skype name, or email address. Enter your search information in the upper right field and click on the magnifying glass button.
Step 3. Search the list of results
Click on the contact you want to add and then click on the "Add to Contacts" button.
You can send them a private message along with an invitation if you wish. Click on "send" to send the invitation
Method 3 of 4: Part 3: Using Skype for Android
Step 1. Click on the menu button of your device
Click Add People.
Step 2. Find the person you want to add
You can search by real name, Skype name, email address, or phone number. Click on the magnifying glass or press "Enter" on your keyboard to start searching.
Step 3. Search the results
Once you find the person you want to add, click on the search result or then click on the "+" picture to add the person to your contact list.
Step 4. Send your message along with the invitation
If you have the choice to send a private message. You can send the invitation with the default text if you want.
Method 4 of 4: Part 4: Using Skype on iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Click the "People" button
You will be shown your contact list. Select the list to which you want to add the new contact.
Step 2. Click on the "Add contact" button

You can find a contact via Search Skype Directory, Save a Phone Number or Import from iPhone.
