In this article, we'll show you how to resize text on a Windows or macOS computer, as well as how to resize text in a computer's web browser.
Steps
Method 1 of 6: Windows

Step 1. Open the Start Menu

Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 2. Click "Options"

Click the gear-shaped icon in the lower-left corner of the Start menu.

Step 3. Click on System
This monitor-shaped icon is in the upper-left corner of the preferences window.

Step 4. Click on Display
This tab is in the upper-left corner of the window.

Step 5. Click "Resize text, attachments and other items."
You will find this option in the middle of the settings window. A dropdown menu will appear.

Step 6. Choose a size
In the menu, click on the number (in percentage) by which the font will be enlarged.
- The smallest size available is 100%.
- The font of some texts will change only after restarting the computer.

Step 7. Use the "Magnifier" utility
It allows you to enlarge images to view small items; no other computer settings are changed.
- Press ⊞ Win ++ to launch Magnifier (or type magnifier in the Start menu and then click Magnifier).
- Press "-" to zoom out to 100%.
- Press "+" to zoom in to a maximum of 1600%.
- Place the cursor in one of the corners of the screen to move around the screen.
Method 2 of 6: macOS

Step 1. Open Finder

Click the blue face icon in the dock.

Step 2. Click View
This menu is in the upper left corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 3. Click Show View Options
It's in the drop-down menu. A pop-up window will appear.

Step 4. Click on the "Text Size" menu
It's at the top of the View Options pop-up window.

Step 5. Select the size of the text
In the menu that opens, select the desired font size.
If you change the Finder view, repeat this process

Step 6. Resize the sidebar
To increase the size of options in Finder:
- Open the Apple menu

Macapple1 - Click on System Preferences.
- Click "General".
- Click on the Sidebar Size menu.
- Click on a size (for example, "Medium").

Step 7. Use the "Magnification" function
It is built into macOS and allows you to zoom in without changing system settings. But first, this function needs to be activated:
- Open the Apple menu

Macapple1 - Click on System Preferences.
- Click Accessibility.
- Click Zoom.
- Check the box next to "Use keyboard shortcuts to zoom."
- Use ⌥ Option + ⌘ Command + 8 to enable the zoom function, and then zoom in with the ⌥ Option + ⌘ Command ++ keys, or zoom out with the ⌥ Option + ⌘ Command + - keys.
Method 3 of 6: Google Chrome

Step 1. Launch Google Chrome

Click on the red-yellow-green-blue ball icon.
Keep in mind that if you want to resize the menu options in your web browser, you will need to use the Magnifier utility (Windows) or the magnify function (macOS) on your computer

Step 2. Change the font size for a specific web page
To change or reduce the font size on only one page, use a keyboard shortcut. This only applies to the active web page (which you are currently viewing); if you clear your browser cookies, zoom again.
- Go to the desired web page.
- Hold Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ Command (macOS).
- Zoom in by pressing the + key and holding down Ctrl or ⌘ Command.
- Zoom out by pressing the - key and holding down the Ctrl or ⌘ Command key.

Step 3. Click on ⋮
This symbol is in the upper right corner of the window. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 4. Click on Settings
You will find this option in the middle of the dropdown menu. The Chrome settings page will open.

Step 5. Scroll down and click on the "Font Size" menu
It's in the Appearance section at the top of the page. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 6. Select the font size
In the menu, click on the option (for example, "Medium"), which characterizes the desired font size.

Step 7. Restart Chrome
To do this, close Chrome and then reopen it. Now all pages will have the specified font size.
Method 4 of 6: Firefox

Step 1. Start Firefox
Click on the orange fox icon on the blue ball.
Keep in mind that if you want to resize the menu options in your web browser, you will need to use the Magnifier utility (Windows) or the magnify function (macOS) on your computer

Step 2. Change the font size for a specific web page

Step 3. Click on ☰
This symbol is in the upper right corner of the window. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 4. Click on Settings
It's in the drop-down menu. The Settings page opens.
On macOS, click on "Options" in the drop-down menu

Step 5. Scroll down to the Language and Appearance section
You will find it at the top of the settings page.

Step 6. Click on Advanced
It's in the lower-right side of the Language and Appearance section. A pop-up window will appear.

Step 7. Uncheck the box next to Allow Pages to Select Fonts
It's near the bottom of the pop-up window.

Step 8. Click on the "Minimum Font Size" menu
You will find it in the middle of the popup. A menu will open.

Step 9. Select the font size
From the menu, select the number that corresponds to the desired minimum font size in the browser.

Step 10. Click on OK
It's at the bottom of the window.
If you choose a size larger than 24, Firefox will warn you that some pages cannot be used

Step 11. Restart Firefox
To do this, close and reopen Firefox. Now all pages will have the specified font size.
Method 5 of 6: Microsoft Edge

Step 1. Launch Microsoft Edge
Click the blue (or white) "e" icon.
Keep in mind - if you want to resize the menu options in your web browser, you will need to use the Magnifier utility on your computer

Step 2. Click on ⋯
This symbol is in the upper right corner of the window. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 3. Zoom in or out
In the "Zoom" menu, click on "-" to zoom out, or click on "+" to increase it.
Unlike other web browsers, using this menu to zoom in or out on a web page also zooms in on other web pages opened in Edge
Method 6 of 6: Safari

Step 1. Launch Safari
Click the blue compass icon in the dock.
Keep in mind - if you want to resize the menu options in your web browser, you will need to use the zoom feature on your computer

Step 2. Change the font size for a specific web page
To change or reduce the font size on only one page, use a keyboard shortcut. This only applies to the active web page (which you are currently viewing); if you clear your browser cookies, zoom again.
- Go to the desired web page.
- Hold Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ Command (macOS).
- Zoom in by pressing the + key and holding down Ctrl or ⌘ Command.
- Zoom out by pressing the - key and holding down the Ctrl or ⌘ Command key.
- You can click View> Actual Size to return to the original font size on the page.

Step 3. Click on Safari
This menu is located in the upper left corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.

Step 4. Click on Settings
You will find this option on the menu.

Step 5. Click the Advanced tab
It's in the upper right corner of the preferences window.

Step 6. Check the box next to "Do not use font size smaller"
It's under the Accessibility section.

Step 7. Click on the "9" menu
You'll find it to the right of the Don't use smaller font size option. A menu will open.

Step 8. Select the font size
In the menu, click on the number equal to the desired font size in the browser.

Step 9. Restart Safari
To do this, close Safari and then reopen it. Now all pages will have the specified font size.
