Have you bought a Swiffer WetJet and are completely confused how to assemble it? This article can set you on the right track so you can get started with it in minutes / moments.
Steps
Step 1. Pick up the Swiffer Wet Jet from your local store and bring it to the first time use and collect it there
Step 2. Remove all adhesive tape from the bottom, top / handle, cleaning solution bottle, and packing material from the washcloth
This may take a few minutes, but for the average person it will not take more than 15 minutes.
Step 3. Install all parts (except for the cleaning part and the handle that overlaps the long fabric tape)
Step 4. Look at one end of the device handle
It will have two holes.
Step 5. Look at the bottom end of the device, on one side, containing the cleaning head
This part of the device will have two parts sticking out of it. One of them will be square and the other will be round.
Step 6. Align the appropriate hole types in the top handle with the squeegee part on the bottom
Push the bottom edge of the handle into these matching holes until you hear a “click” sound. The two holes and parts look the same at first glance, so be careful not to insert the wrong part into the wrong hole.
Step 7. Take the device and place it on a flat surface next to you
Step 8. Open the battery compartment, which is colored purple at the bottom of the squeegee stick
The unit requires 4 double AA batteries to start the cleaning process (unless you want to use the mop when dry).
Step 9. Insert the batteries, observing the polarity of the batteries to the battery terminals as indicated in the diagrams inside the battery compartment door
Step 10. Close the battery compartment cover
Step 11. Hold the device in an upright position, the mop is ready to clean
Step 12. Open the bottle of detergent solution
It will be difficult to open like most other bottles. Turn the cap a quarter turn, or until the cap on the bottle stops rotating.
Step 13. Insert the bottle into the round holes located at the bottom of the device
The labels that say "Swiffer WetJet" must match. The bottle is triangular in shape, so make sure you insert it correctly. Do not turn the bottle over.
Step 14. Make sure the bottle makes a clicking sound
This sound means that the solution is now being loaded into the device.
Step 15. Open the bag with additional cleaning panels
Step 16. Look at the surface cleaning panel itself
One side should have a glossy look and the other side should be matte.
Step 17. Use the glossy side of the panel when cleaning (if the surface being cleaned is black (dirt will adhere faster))
Step 18. Place the cleaning panel in the down position so that the panels touch the floor when you start cleaning
Advice
- Be careful. Swiffer WetJets will break quite easily if used in harsh environments. Make sure the holes are correctly aligned with the part.
- Control the spraying of the cleaning solution onto the surface. The purple-pink button at the top of the handle, when pressed, will spray solution from the bottom head. Otherwise, if oversprayed, your cleaning panels will get wet and may even soak the entire head, causing the solution to lag when another panel is replaced. (Hang on its side so it can dry and then can be replaced.)
