If you work at school or are dealing with young children, you have likely stained your clothes more than once with an easy-to-erase water-based marker. With the right approach, removing an easy-to-erase marker is easy. An easily erasable marker can be removed with Murphy's oil or a solution of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Most importantly, do not forget to test the effect of the cleaning agent on a small area of the cloth.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using Murphy's Oil

Step 1. Place an absorbent towel under the fabric
Since it will most likely be stained, use an old towel that you don't mind. Place a towel under the cloth to be cleaned on a flat surface such as a countertop. The towel should be thick enough to absorb excess moisture.

Step 2. Dip your toothbrush in Murphy's oil
If you have an extra toothbrush, grab one. Or buy a cheap toothbrush from the drug store. Saturate your toothbrush with Murphy's oil. This method works best on a wet toothbrush.

Step 3. Wipe the stain
Use a toothbrush to rub Murphy's oil into the stain. Move the towel under the cloth to absorb excess liquid. Rub the stain until foam forms and do not stop until the stain is mostly gone.

Step 4. Remove the rest of the stain with dish soap
Take a rag or sponge and dip it in a solution of water and a mild dishwashing liquid. Rub the product into the stain until the stain is completely gone.

Step 5. Rinse your clothes with clean water
Take a clean sponge and dip it in clean water. Use a sponge to scrub the garment to rinse off Murphy's oil and dish soap.
Continue rubbing the cloth with the sponge until the sponge is clear of water

Step 6. Throw your clothes into the washing machine
After the stain is gone, wash your clothes. After washing, no trace of the stain should remain.
Method 2 of 3: Using white vinegar and rubbing alcohol

Step 1. Place the stained clothing on a towel
Take a clean absorbent towel, place it on a flat surface, and place the stained clothing on top of it.

Step 2. Blot the stain with alcohol
Apply some rubbing alcohol to a clean sponge. Then gently blot the stain with a sponge. Rubbing the stain can smudge it even more on the clothing. Continue blotting the stain until it disappears.

Step 3. Fill your sink with water and vinegar
Fill your sink with warm water and then add 120 ml of white vinegar. Use your hands or a spoon to stir it in the water.

Step 4. Soak your clothes
Place the clothes in the sink. Leave the garment in the sink for about 15 minutes, after which the stain should disappear.

Step 5. Wash your clothes in the washing machine
Once the stain is gone, machine wash the garment to remove any traces of vinegar and rubbing alcohol.
Be sure to wring your clothes out of the sink to avoid spilling water on the floor
Method 3 of 3: Ensuring a good wash

Step 1. Study the legend on the label
If a manufacturer's label remains on the garment, be sure to check it before washing. Make sure there are no special washing instructions on the label. For example, some items of clothing can only be washed in cold water.

Step 2. If necessary, repeat the process
If the stain persists after applying any of these methods, repeat the cleaning procedure again. Marker stains are sometimes very difficult to remove. It may take two tries to completely remove the stain.

Step 3. Check the garment's response to cleaning methods
Some garments may not react well to Murphy's oil, rubbing alcohol, or white vinegar. Test the cleaner on a small area of clothing, then wait about an hour. As long as the garment does not fade or deteriorate, it is safe to use the substance to remove the stain.
