If the thermos has been stored for a long time and began to smell like mold, then you are unlikely to want to use it. To give your thermos a fresh smell, see the methods below.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Bleach and water

Step 1. Fill the flask almost to the top with hot water

Step 2. Add a teaspoon of bleach

Step 3. Close the lid and let the mixture sit for five minutes

Step 4. Rinse the thermos with hot water and place it upside down in a dish drainer to completely drain the water
Method 2 of 4: baking soda

Step 1. If bleach doesn't work, try baking soda
This method will take a little longer, but it should still show good results.

Step 2. Fill the flask with hot water as above

Step 3. Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda

Step 4. Leave it overnight

Step 5. Rinse thoroughly the next morning and dry as described above
Method 3 of 4: Lemon Juice
This method not only cleans, but also allows you to get rid of the unpleasant odor in the flask.

Step 1. Squeeze lemon juice

Step 2. Fill the thermos with boiling water
Pour lemon juice into it.

Step 3. Leave it on for about half an hour

Step 4. Drain the water
Let dry without screwing on the lid. The flask should smell much better now.
Method 4 of 4: Storage

Step 1. Store the thermos with the lid ajar
This will help keep the thermos dry. If moisture remains and the lid is tightly closed, it can stimulate mold growth and cause unpleasant odors.
Advice
- This method also applies to coffee and tea flasks for keeping warm coffee and tea on the table, etc., as well as large lunch flasks.
- You can use a denture cleaner to remove odors. Just remember to rinse the thermos well after cleaning.
