Many homeowners want their appliances to look new and clean. In addition, household appliances are usually quite expensive, so changing them every time you have a desire to update a room or house is quite costly. The appearance of the technique can be interesting and fresh if it is painted, which will give it not only a new look, but also a new life. Paint your appliances in 1-2 days and save money you would spend on new appliances.
Step 1. Cover the floor and items with plastic wrap
This will protect the floor, other appliances and furniture from paint. Place the household appliance on the plastic.
Step 2. Clean the device
Take a sponge and wash the appliance with soap and water. Remove dried debris and other dirt particles from the appliance. Also remove various viscous substances and oily substances. Dry the appliance with a clean towel.
Step 3. Wipe the instrument with an ammonia-based solution
Dilute a small amount of ammonia in water and wipe the device with a sponge. After that, the device will paint much better.
Step 4. Wipe the device with a hard sponge
To do this, use steel wool or something with strong and durable bristles that can remove old food marks and other debris from the appliance.
Step 5. Grind the instrument
Take sanding paper and run it over the entire appliance, including the handles and feet. Remove debris with a clean brush and sand the entire instrument a second time. This is necessary in order for the paint to adhere better to the surface of the device.
Step 6. Remove metal items from the device
All knobs and buttons that you will not paint, or that can be painted separately, must be removed from the instrument.
Step 7. Take electrical tape and cover the areas that you will not paint with it
Various clocks, words and other marks, as well as areas on the device that you will not paint, should be sealed with electrical tape.
Step 8. Buy a special paint
You can buy self-priming epoxy paint for appliances at your home improvement store. This paint is sold in cans and can be applied with a brush or spray.
Step 9. Paint the device
In slow, even strokes, brush one full coat of paint over the entire fixture. If you spray paint the device, hold it at an appropriate distance from the device and apply a coat of paint. After that, leave the paint overnight to dry.
Step 10. Apply a second coat of paint to the device
The second coat will give the appliance an even and smooth finish. Let the paint dry.
- Be sure to paint in a well-ventilated area. Wear goggles and a respirator for added protection.
- Keep your paint handy in case you find scratches or scuff marks on new paint. Most paints are sold in sufficient quantity to cover the finishing touches of various colors.
