Sugar cubes are extremely easy to make at home - sugar and water are all you need. In addition to the standard cubes, you can make colorful and flavored ones to make your tea party or other event more fun. Learn how to make sugar cubes in two different ways: using a baking sheet and oven, or using an ice cube tray to leave overnight.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Oven Sugar Cubes

Step 1. Pour a glass of sugar into a bowl
You can use any type of sugar except powdered sugar. Use raw sugar, brown sugar, or plain granulated sugar.

Step 2. Add three teaspoons of water to the sugar bowl
Pour the sugar evenly over the water and let sit for a few seconds.

Step 3. Mix sugar with water with a fork
Try to get rid of the lumps and achieve a uniform consistency. If any lumps of sugar remain, stir again to remove them. Sugar is ready if it retains its shape when pressed lightly.

Step 4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
You can use a bread pan or any other glass or metal pan that can be used in the oven.

Step 5. Pour the sugar onto parchment paper
Press the sugar into the bottom of the pan with a spatula or other hard, flat device. The height should be about 1, 3 cm (like ready-made sugar cubes that you can buy in the store).
- If you want to make other shapes of sugar lumps, pour the mixture into oven-safe candy or muffin tins.
- If your molds cannot be used in the oven, you can still use them. Pour the sugar mixture into the molds and press down with a spatula. Do not put the molds in the oven, but cover them loosely with parchment paper and leave them on the counter overnight. By morning, the sugar will solidify.

Step 6. Cut the sugar
Use a knife to cut the sugar mass into cubes of the desired size. Try to make neat and even squares. Don't skip this step, or you will end up with a stove instead of sugar cubes.

Step 7. Place the mold in an oven preheated to 120 ° C
Set a timer for 1 hour.

Step 8. Remove the sugar pan from the oven
After an hour, remove the mold from the oven and let the cubes cool for 10 minutes.

Step 9. Break the cubes
Remove the sugar from the mold and break it into cubes with your hands or with a knife. If you cut them correctly beforehand, it will be easy for you to break them.

Step 10. Storing the cubes
Place the sugar cubes in an airtight container until further use. You can enjoy them immediately by adding them to your tea or coffee.
Method 2 of 2: Ice Cube Tray
Step 1. Buy silicone ice cube molds
For this method, it is best to use funny silicone molds, for example, hearts, stars, animals, etc. It will be much easier for you to remove the sugar cubes from the silicone molds, and less likely to damage them.

Step 2. Pour sugar into a bowl
You can use any amount of sugar, but use 1/2 cup first.

Step 3. Add a teaspoon of water to the sugar and stir
Continue adding a teaspoon of water at a time and stirring until you reach the consistency of a paste. Don't make the mixture too thin, or the sugar will dissolve.
- At this point, you can add a few drops of food coloring to make colored cubes.
- Try adding a few drops of vanilla, almond, or lemon extract to make flavored sugar.

Step 4. Spoon the sugar mixture into an ice cube tray
Fill out the form only halfway up.

Step 5. Press on the sugar
With the back of a spoon, flatten the surface of the sugar mixture and press down to make the cubes tighter.

Step 6. Dry the sugar
Place the tray in a dry place to allow the water to evaporate. If your kitchen is humid, the cubes may not solidify.

Step 7. Take the sugar out of the mold
Remove each sugar cube by pressing the bottom of the pan and gently patting it with your palm. Store in an airtight container or use immediately.
