Hair bows are fun accessories that can be worn on hair of any length and at any age. You may need a bow that matches your outfit or is suitable for a special occasion, but you just might not find a suitable one in the store. If this is exactly the case, or if you just feel a creative impulse in yourself, prepare the necessary materials to create a unique image.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Preparing the fabric and materials

Step 1. Select the fabric you want to use for the bow
Perfect for these purposes: satin, velvet, nylon, cotton, vinyl or poplin. You can choose any of the listed ones.
When choosing a ribbon, you should think in advance about the rigidity of the future bow. If you want the bow to hold its shape, choose a tape made from a stiffer fabric such as poplin or vinyl

Step 2. Choose a way to fix the bow on your hair
There are many hairpins, clips, elastic bands, with which you can attach a bow to your hair. All you need is a glue gun or fabric glue to secure the bow to the hair accessory.

Step 3. Select the type of bow you want
There are an infinite number of options for bows of various types of difficulty. First you need to determine for yourself whether your bow will be attached with glue or sewn on.
Although at first it may seem like a very difficult task to you, you will gradually learn how to make great bows, and over time you will move on to more complex variations of them
Method 2 of 4: Create a butterfly bow

Step 1. Try to make a universal bow in the form of a butterfly
In such a bow, the ends are tucked inward, which makes it look like a butterfly. This bow easily attaches to any hair clip and is perfect for kids, pets, or a headband.

Step 2. Collect the necessary materials to create a bow
You can use any type of ribbon, fabric and pattern you like. You can also add a decoration to the center of the composition. You will need:
- ribbon
- Needle
- Thread
- Glue gun or fabric glue
- Decoration in the center of the bow
- Hair clip, elastic or headband.

Step 3. Determine the size of your future bow
You can make both a large and a small bow. After choosing the size of the bow, you must double the length and add 2.54 cm to determine the amount of material required.
You will need 15, 24 cm of fabric if you want a standard bow in sizes 5, 08 by 6, 35

Step 4. Cut a piece of tape to the required length
After that, it should be folded into a loop in the form of a circle and overlapped with two ends of each other by 1.27 cm.

Step 5. Hold the edges together and thread with the needle from bottom to top
Then wrap the thread and needle around the center a few times to pull off the center of the bow.

Step 6. Pull the thread around the needle
After pulling the layers tightly in the center with a thread, you can pull the needle and thread through the top and pull it out from under the bottom. Cut off excess thread and tie a knot.

Step 7. Finish making the bow
If you wish, you can wrap another piece of fabric around the center of your bow to hide the thread. You can add any decoration by simply gluing it in the center of the bow. Once the glue has dried, your bow is ready to use.
Method 3 of 4: Create a Classic Hair Bow

Step 1. Try making a classic bow for a simple style
Making a classic bow is like tying your shoelaces. To do this, you will need about 12, 7-15, 24 cm of tape and an elastic band.

Step 2. Pull the fly through the elastic
Make sure the tape is smooth and the same length on both sides of the elastic.

Step 3. Make an overlap on both sides
To do this, lay both sides of the tape on top of each other, and then slide the top to the left so that the pieces of tape are side by side. This is needed to get the node.

Step 4. Make a knot using two pieces of tape
Pull the right side up, and then pass it under the left side, creating a loop. Then thread the right side through the loop and pull tight into the knot.

Step 5. Fold each end of the tape into a loop
This is the first step to making a bow. Simply position the end of each tape over your index finger to fold the ends and create loops.

Step 6. Overlap the right stitch with the left stitch
Then pull the left loop out from under the right loop and pull it tight.

Step 7. Take the left loop from under the right loop and pull it tight
Try to keep the bow loops flat. This will help maintain the shape of the bow.

Step 8. Straighten the bow loops
The hinges must be the same size. Immediately after unfolding the buttonhole, trim the ends of the tape to the same length. Your hair bow is now well secured and ready to wear.
The ends of the tape should be secured with one coat of clear nail polish to prevent the fabric from slipping
Method 4 of 4: Create a Layered Bow

Step 1. Make a layered bow
To create this 7.62cm bow, you will need several types of materials. Head to your nearest fabric store to purchase the following items:
- 59cm ribbon
- Needles
- A thread
- Sharp hairpin
- Crocodile hairpin
- A piece of cardboard 12, 5x10
- Sharp scissors or circular knife
- Ruler
- Glue gun

Step 2. Cut the template out of the cardboard
To shape your bow, you should use cardboard as a template. You need to cut a 2.54 x 1.27 cm rectangle from the center of the cardboard.
Measure the area to be cut with a ruler and draw a line with a pencil. Use scissors or a knife to carefully cut off any excess cardboard

Step 3. Wrap the tape around the cardboard two times
This will add layers to the bow. Use a crocodile clip to pinch the downward end of the tape wrapped around the template.

Step 4. Fix the tape
After wrapping the tape twice around the cardboard, turn the template over and secure it with a hairpin. Pierce the pin through the template so that it goes through the bottom and top layers of the tape.

Step 5. Separate the tape from the template
Carefully peel the tape off the template so that the pin is in the center of the shape-retaining tape.
- Press down on the pin while holding the tape. Now you can pull the ends of the bow out of the bottom of the ribbon in opposite directions. Your tape should form an "X" shape.
- Pull each stitch until an "X" shape is formed. Your goal is to create as much volume as possible on each side. You can move the buttonholes as you like, while keeping the tape in the middle.

Step 6. Make pleats on the bow using thread
Take a thread and a needle and tie a knot at the end of the thread so it doesn't go through the tape. Pull the needle through the bottom center of the bow to keep it from losing its "X" shape.
Cut off the excess thread and tie a knot after you have sewn the center bow several times

Step 7. Glue the bow to the desired hair accessory
You can use a glue gun or fabric glue to glue your bow to a hair clip or hairpin.
The bow is ready to use immediately after drying
Advice
- To secure the ends of the tape, cover them with one coat of clear nail polish to prevent the fabric from unraveling. Before starting work with the tape, make sure that the varnish is completely dry.
- You can find ribbons and clips at most craft stores.
