There are several ways to print superscript characters, and the choice depends on the language and your operating system. In Windows XP, for example, you can install a Spanish or French keyboard. You can also use Microsoft Word to type superscripts (if you want to do this in a text editor). In addition, you can use different codes for accented characters (Windows or Mac OS).
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Codes on Windows

Step 1. To enter accented characters in Windows, you can use codes (more precisely, keyboard shortcuts)
Here, the “+” sign denotes simultaneous key presses, and the “,” sign denotes alternate key presses. For example, if you see Control + a, e, then press Control and a at the same time and then press e.
Symbol | Code | |
---|---|---|
á | Ctrl + ', A | |
é | Ctrl + ', E | |
í | Ctrl + ', I | |
ó | Ctrl + ', O | |
ú | Ctrl + ', U | |
É | Ctrl + ', Shift + E | |
ñ | Ctrl + Shift + ~, N | |
Ñ | Ctrl + Shift + ~, Shift + N | |
ü | Ctrl + Shift +:, U |
Method 2 of 5: Cheats on Mac OS

Step 1. To enter accents in Mac OS, you can use codes (more precisely, keyboard shortcuts)
Here, the “+” sign denotes simultaneous key presses, and the “,” sign denotes alternate key presses. For example, if you see Control + a, e, then press Control and a at the same time and then press e.
Symbol | Code | |
---|---|---|
á | Option + E, A | |
é | Option + E, E | |
í | Option + E, I | |
ó | Option + E, O | |
ú | Option + E, U | |
É | Option + E, Shift + E | |
ñ | Option + N, N | |
Ñ | Option + N, Shift + N | |
ü | Option + U, U |
Method 3 of 5: Installing a Spanish keyboard in Windows XP
If you are using Windows XP, install a Spanish keyboard to enter superscript characters. Using codes (keyboard shortcuts) is a great solution, but if you want to enter text in a different language, install an additional keyboard.
Step 1. Click "Start"

Step 2. Click on "Control Panel"

Step 3. Click Regional and Language Options

Step 4. Go to the "Languages" tab

Step 5. Click Change Keyboard

Step 6. Click "Add"

Step 7. In the list of languages, select "Spanish" (any variant of the Spanish language will do)

Step 8. Click OK

Step 9. Restart your computer
In the system tray (bottom right), click on the language bar icon to select the language (in this case Spanish) and the corresponding keyboard layout.
Method 4 of 5: Quickly enter accents

Step 1. Use Microsoft Word
Launch this text editor and click "Insert" - "Symbol" - "Other Symbols". In the table that opens, find the symbol you need and insert it into the document. This is not the most efficient way, but it will work if you need to insert 1-2 accents.

Step 2. Find the superscript character on the Internet, copy it (to do this, in the browser, click "Edit" - "Copy" or just press Ctrl + C) and paste it wherever you need (to do this, in the browser, click "Edit" - "Paste" or just press Ctrl + V)
You can copy a symbol from a web browser (internet) and paste it into a text editor (and vice versa).
Method 5 of 5: Entering accents in iPhone / iPad

Step 1. Start typing (as usual)

Step 2. Press and hold the key with the character above which you want to add an accented mark
For example, if you want to add a superscript mark over the letter "e", hold down the "e" key.
