This article will show you how to send text messages using WhatsApp. This can be done on both iPhone and Android device. If the recipient has WhatsApp and a wireless network connection, they can receive and reply to your text messages from anywhere in the world.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On iPhone
Step 1. Open the "WhatsApp" application
It's a green icon with a white handset in a text bubble.
Open the App Store to download WhatsApp if you don't already have it
Step 2. Click Chats
It's a text bubble icon located at the bottom of the screen. The Chats page opens, where you can view your current chats.
If a chat is open in WhatsApp, click the "<" button in the upper left corner of the screen to go to the chat list
Step 3. Click on the "New Chat" icon
This icon resembles a pencil on a piece of paper and is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
You can also open an existing chat by clicking on it. In this case, skip the next step
Step 4. Click on the person's name
A new chat will open with that person.
You can also click New Group at the top of the page to create a new group, or you can click New Contact to add a phone number
Step 5. Enter your text message
Do this in the text box at the bottom of the screen.
You can also upload a photo. To do this, click on the camera icon and then select a photo from the corresponding album
Step 6. Click Submit
It's a blue paper airplane icon to the right of the text box. The message will be sent.
Method 2 of 2: On an Android device
Step 1. Open the "WhatsApp" application
It's a green icon with a white handset in a text bubble.
Open the Play Store to download WhatsApp if you don't already have it
Step 2. Click Chats
This tab is at the top of the screen. The Chats page opens.
If a chat is open in WhatsApp, click the Back button in the upper left corner of the screen to go to the chat list
Step 3. Click on the "New Chat" icon
It is a text bubble icon located in the upper right corner of the screen (to the left of the “⋮” icon).
- On some Android tablets and smartphones, the New Chat icon is located in the lower-right corner of the screen.
- You can also open an existing chat by clicking on it. In this case, skip the next step.
Step 4. Click on the person's name
A new chat will open with that person.
You can also click New Group at the top of the page to start a group chat, or you can click the person silhouette icon in the upper right corner of the screen to add a new contact
Step 5. Enter your text message
Do this in the text box at the bottom of the screen.
You can also add a photo. To do this, click on the camera icon on the right side of the text box, and then select a photo from the corresponding album
Step 6. Click Submit
It is an icon that looks like a white paper airplane on a green background. The message will be sent.
